Had a blast at the two W.O.O. shows that I attended this last 5 days.

However, what is the deal all of the sudden with people sitting in seats that aren't theirs?  I have had to kick folks (politely at first) out of my seats each of the last 4 times I have visited Beaver Dam and again last night in Rockford.  I never remember having this problem in the past and now I can count on it.  Each time I receive attitude.  Why?  I was very polite the last 4 times.  Last night that changed.  I had a group of 13 people.  We had people our seats, in the wrong seats to the left and wrong seats to the right.  I decided it was a good time not to be polite any more.  Most of them rolled their eyes at us and one guy actually said to his party:  "let's just go back down to OUR seats".  ??????????????????????   You mean the seats you f##$ing bought?  What a novel idea!!

Anyone else experiencing this?   It has been epidemic for our group lately.  Its bad enough to do it intentionally but then act like I'm the asshole?  Come on.

Same thing happened at Brown County when the WoO were here a couple weeks ago. It was about three rows up from me, needless to say security had to get involved to remove the wrong seat offenders.

I've also had it happen at the Knoxville Nationals a few times as of recent years.

Funny thing, I have never had a problem at the Nationals in 14 straight years!

People are always going to attempt to improve their seats if it looks like they're empty.  Have seen that at many sports functions.  Funny though, at a Knoxville normal Saturday night last year, a guy was screaming and yelling that there was nobody there to help him find his seat.  Sitting there with  nothing better to do and wanting to do my civic duty of "paying it forward", I asked him if I could help.  He yelled, "There is nobody in this place to show you where your seat is!  Where the hell is Section GA?"  Didn't quite know how to tell him that Section GA is general admission and to just find a nice spot and have a seat.  LOL

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

we buy extra reserved seats as buffer space and get the same crap...

at Lincoln one night - 3 wide bodies already knew the seats in the row were reserved...and asked "are those people coming" and we said..."we own the seats"..."cant we sit here?" - we said "no, we pay extra for leg room".

at tgoe Gorve recentll - non outlaw situation...guy sitting in (1) of Buzzkill's seats...Buzz likes to arrive late with a "buzz to kill" to speak...tell the guy, " you are in my seats"...the guy actually says "well how much room do you need"...Buzz leans over and says "this is not a negotiation"!

We buy extra seats at the Nationals for the same reason as u.  I always walk in first and present the ticket for the inner seat.  No problems there usually.  I've had it though.  I'm going to be a complete jerk from here on out if I sense any attitude.  Everyone makes mistakes but these people are purposely pulling this crap.

I saw this rampant at Brown County Speedway WoO a few weeks ago. Was also an issue at Huron, SD last year And we ran into issues .  At Huron I tried being the bigger person in front of my boy and, even though they were our seats just got up and moved to a general seat as we were totally outnumbered by assholes. It all worked out as we sat by some really nice people in GA area. This year at Brown County kids asked why I wanted to be there over an hour early before hot laps and said, since I had reserved very early to get a prime seat, I wasn't gonna deal with someone in my seat. Worked out great this time and no issues for us. But we did see it in many areas in front of us. Problem at Brown County I thought was that it was plain as day on website what was reserved (under canopy main grandstand) and what was general admission (either end of main grandstand in open air) wasn't made very clear to walk up general admin. I did see quite a few honest looking people wandering through stands asking what was general and not. I also saw several locals get general tickets go sit in reserved thinking this is my spot on a regular Friday show, I got here first so this is my seat. That is exactly what we ran into in Huron last year. I love what SLS has done promoting the races in the Dakotas, but I think it needs to be made a bit more clear what's reserved and what's not. I have no issue doing what I did at Bcs to make sure I got the seats I reserved. I don't reserve ahead so I can get there 5 minutes before action and have a seat, I reserve so I simply get the seat I want. From now on I will continue to get there early, no issues then Hopefully.

I love the drunks who forget where their seats are. Come up the wrong aisle looking for their friends and then stand & look around. All during green flag racing of course. Happens all the time at the Nationals. I see them coming up the aisle and know I never saw them go down. After blocking our view and getting yelled at for 2 - 3 laps they stagger down and head up another aisle

My rreasoning for getting reserved is so I do not have to fight people getting to my preferred area.  The morons who do this should get shamed.  Also, reserved allows me to check out the pits and then go back to the camper and have dinner and a beverage, without having to rush.  Some people just don't get it.  Had a bunch of good guys up by me at Rockford.  Great night.  Hey EGRAS, I could have gone for another beer or two at your trailer, what happened to you?   wink

Myself and the family always go in late at the Nationals, time trials bore me so we skip those. Pretty much one night we will have squaters in our seats. I just tell them those are ours and they get up and leave, never had issues and nobody ever asks to see my ticket.

Flip side when I go to the late model nats I always buy General Admission and sit up on the top row. If somebody were to have those seats I would just get up and move. I know I am in a reserved area and they bought those seats, no reason to be an ass.

Happens to me at the grove every week.  I have 6 seats, only use usually 3 but the extra room is nice.  When you tell them theyre in your seat they usually just slide down, which still puts them in your seats and they try to negotiate a way to continue sitting there.  Had a family in them 2 weeks ago and the guy argued with me they werent mine because his ticket stub didnt have a seat number on it, so no possible way they were mine.  Wish they would take all the useless security guards walking around and put them in the bleachers to check for that stuff especially since they make an announcement every week that red seats or reserved.

Most race tracks who do sell reserved seats don't have Ushers like the stick and ball stadiums.  That's why I have always disliked reserved seats at auto races.  It shouldn't be incumbent on the ticket buyer to duke it out . I'm a regular at all pro sports  ( about  100-110 events per season ) and  never get back talk when trying to oust occasional offenders from my reserved seats at  stick and ball sports.  The solution to the problem is :  if you're going to sell reserved seats, have real Ushers, who actually do work.

OK, I've moved to better seats before, but always ask if someone is sitting there first, & if somebody shows up, I thank them & leave.

Do you folks think that is OK or not?

If that happened to me I wouldn't have even started this thread.  I would not have had a problem with it at all.  (though some still would)

My main problem has been the rude responses and in one case being flat out ignored until I got nasty.  I simply approach the seats, ask first if I am in section "XX", row "XX" and seats "XXXX".  (I want to make sure I am in the right place first)  Then I politely ask what seat numbers they have.  (Last year I got a shrug of the shoulders and then he turned his head--like he had it planned that he didn't care who reserved what seats he was going to sit there)   Then I just simply let them know they will have to move from the seats.  Seems reasonable, doesn't it?

Most times, the first thing that happens is they scoot down about 4 inches and instead of covering 2-1/2 of our seats they are now only covering 2 seats.  At this point, all polite dialogue is off.  It is followed by "I don't care if you move down or leave, but you are going to have to leave those two seats.   This is usually followed by the shaking of the head--or in this year's case at Beaver Dam, the eyeroll to the husband from the rude wife who wouldn't get up and move her entire family of 4 out of our seats when all they had was general admission.  I don't care if you want to give it a shot.  But when the jigs up, the jigs up.  Get up and move and realize no one but you did anything wrong.
