The ASCS and K-ville officials knew something didn't look right and was suspicious about some stuff. Dave Rotter from Brodix happened to be there for the race and they called him the next morning to come by the track before heading to Sturgis to confirm or deny what they thought. The only people that know for a fact what was wrong is Tommy Estes, Jr., John McCoy from K-ville, Emmett Hahn, and of course Dave Rotter. Oh and I'm sure the engine builder and Mr. Swenson know as well. All Dave said was that it was "pretty blatant" and it wasn't a liitle illegal it was quite illegal.

Yes, like the call or not it was the right call as you say.

I know those heads were on another car at the Short Track Nationals in Little Rock a few months back.

thanks Kelly----thats almost more than I've heard about it up until now.

were they the same set of heads at little rock that Swenson had at Knoxville?

Yeah confiscating the heads would be OK. But if a driver is dumb enough to use them once and get caught, then turn around and spend all the money to tow to another race with them, let them burn fuel, tires and whatever else then don't pay them at the end of the night. But you know if a person has 1 set of cheaters, surely he has backups also. But hey, as long as Wright doesn't finish right behind them its all good.lol

lol. aw come on now David. Just because Gary Wright finishes behind somebody doesn't automatically make them legal or not. You ought to know I wasn't completely serious with that statement. I was mostly pokin fun.........at Knoxville the fact Wright was 2nd when Swenson was dq'd I'm sure that was coincidental. I'm more sore about havin Swenson sign my ToC shirt and then the next day find out he's illegal.......but thats my luck. I'll tell you 1 thing.......if I ever have an event shirt and want the winning driver to sign it again.....I'll wait a lil while. lol.

The Tournament of Champioins wasn't an ASCS sanctioned race, therefore ASCS had no authority to confiscate the heads. Had that infraction occurred in an ASCS sanctioned event, the heads would have been confiscated and a one-year suspenion from all ASCS events would have been levied.

no sh**? has that ever happened to anyone before?

All valid points. I didn't know it wasn't an ASCS sanctioned event. Also, like David said, he'd be stupid to show up at another race with the same cheating setup under the hood. That's just asking to be thrown out. Besides, what does cheating prove? It can't feel good to cheat and win. Well for most of us anyway. lol

Thanks Lonnie, I forgot to mention about it not being ASCS sanctioned.

I didn't say Chuck Swenson showed up with the illegal heads at the STN!  I just said they were on another car.  Obviously it didn't help because he didn't finish in the top 5 which were tore down.

Kelly, I have a question, does the race for the ASCS Wesmar motor begin at Dallas on the 16th and 17th , is this something that you all build as you (Wesmar) wants and already have built or do you wait to see who wins the deal and then build to what they want (within reasonable cost of course) Just curious how it works, Is it on the same principal as the Sprint Car Raffle they do every year out of Knoxville on parts and so on. Hell Kelly I maybe asking top secret confidential stuff but was just wondering. Looking foward to the festivities at Dallas as it will be the loss of my virginity for 2007 (first attended race of the season) LOL, I will borrow a line from OKCfan12 aka CCC, gonna be pissed if there are not at least 55 sprints at Dallas (Just for you CCC)LOL.

Didn't you go to the Chili Bowl? Not questioning your mental capacity(none of us can really afford that) but just wondering. I believe that would have been your first race.

Mr. Jones, I guess I should have been more specific, First Sprint Race of 2007, what is that MOTTO I once heard "If your not Mental we'll be gentle" I follow those guidelines. LOL, So is the Mini Sprint getting done and are you ready to sling some dirt?

sorry Kelly I wasn't trying to imply that you said Swenson............just wandering if it was the same exact set of heads Swenson had at Knoxville that someone else was using at Little Rock. I would hope the ToC was the last time Swenson himself used those heads.

JD in your aging form you exagerrate my sentiments towards car counts. lol. I like high car counts, but a good race is 10X more important. But yes I will pissed if there isn't upwards of 50 ASCS sprints at the Bowl. What I'd really like to see is someone other than Ramey or Wright win it. An occasional suprise or upset is always nice.

But I will worry about sprinters at Devil's Bowl AFTER I see the mods and late models at TMS.

There is a good chance of that. But the only thing you'll ever be faster than me at is kissing DJ's ass.

P.S. Now THAT had to hurt. You know only best wishes Dave.

JD, we are building the engine just like what we'd build for Gary Wright or Jason Johnson. I believe that would be a pretty good combination.

Basically racers have already started earning points towards the engine which started in Florida.

It's probably more interesting than what I raised, but as a fan that barely knows the difference between a torsion bar and a top wing, I just want to know what cars and drivers are going to pull out on that track March 23-24.

I wish I knew the under-the-hood stuff, but all that time my dad was working on his super modified, I was foolishly out in the backyard shooting hoop. I got a low-grade scholarship out of that choice, but now am stuck paying other people to work on my cars and mindlessly nodding when discussions like this one start up when in fact I am dumber than the dirt they are racing on.

I love the sport, but wish I was more geared towards being a gear head.

Kenny, you and I are of the same ilk. Not very mechanically adept but I know all the important stuff...rollout, sidebite, etc. LOL. I just want good racing.
