I think it would be interesting to see some details of why there is a shortage. What exactly is different today from three years ago. How many tires are they making a week compared to then. Whats the difference in number of employees and hours of production work per week. How long did it used to be between manufacture date and sale to end user. Then follow the raw material supply chain back to where it originates and see exactly what's happening there. I don't expect to see details like this but it might be eye opening.

That would take research and learship at both the corpoarate & government levels for all products not just tires. Don't hold your breath while waiting for it.

The same could be said for every product under the sun right now.

Yes you're right. It seems baffling that every single industry is in the same shape. One might start to think there may a concerted effort to make it happen.

Actually, not every industry. Where I work if sixty or eighty trucks show up unannounced in a day they will all be loaded within fifteen minutes or less of arrival. But then we were ordered to shut down on a Friday evening and reopened by Tuesday morning and haven't missed a day since.

That's giving a little too much credit to some folks. I think this is much more like a variation of Hanlon's razor, an old adage that says "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity".

For so long, everything and everybody seemed to be moving fast & loose. That worked as long as everything was humming along fine. In fact, it all worked, right up until the time it didn't.

This is beginning to sound like Kennedy and Cuba all over again.
