Pretty wild night atop the high-banks of LoneStar Speedway last night (that got even a little bit higher during the off-season).

The 27 sprint cars on hand put on an excellent show all night long.

Passing points were awarded in the heat races and Tim Crawley piloted the the John James #4j (Wichita Falls, TX) from a 5th row starting spot.

Tim would cut through traffic and take the lead late in the 8-lap heat.

However the joy would be short lived as the car came up a bit light at the scales, relegating him to starting 7th in B-main #2. He would battle up to a 3rd place transfer spot into the feature, where he lined up 18th.

The feature race was pretty much pandemonium from the drop of the green, with the 24 starters running 25 laps. The first 15 laps would go non-stop, but that didn't mean it wasn't without incident, as front row starter Martin Edwards would perform a '360' after a slidejob coming off corner 4 at the end of the first lap - sending the 22 cars behind him scattering across the newly widened 70' surface...and the green flag remained out!

In the meantime, Crawley was picking his way through the field and the one and only caution in the race gave him much better track position, as the leaders had already hit lap traffic on lap 5.

Tim would end up a strong 4th in the feature race...bringing his total cars passed for the event 27.

Lots of passing was the rule throughout the event, that was well attended on both sides of the fence, as there were 31 outlaw modifieds ($1200/win), 28 limited modifieds ($600/win) and 33 factory stocks ($400/win) joining in on the action.

There are a whole bunch of pictures and info posted at the LSS FB page...including a picture of Tim, click https://www.facebook.com/LoneStar-Speedway-Fan-Page-172714742765279/ to check them out.

I hope some of you had a chance to make it down for the big season opener, it was a wild night of racing. And for the 2nd year in a row, not one sprint car got upside down during the event.
  Smile
