Has anyone heard if it is going to happen?
If so, what tire is it and does anyone have any info on it?

Emmett announced it at the ASCS banquet that they were going to a little harder RR tire than they are currently running and that this will be the only tire they can run on the rr. He also said that they were going to take a block out of the tire which will narrow it.
He said teams will be able to use up their tires from last year through Florida, after that the new tire is mandatory

Thanks Kelly
You wouldn't happen to know the designation of the tire would you?

We will still have (2) tire compounds available for the right rear in 2007.
HOOSIER "Medium" and HOOSIER "Hard". Both tires are about 1 to 1-1/4 inches narrower, (1 block less as Kelly stated), and about (4) to (5) points harder.
We have also amended our top wing rules to match up with the WoO and Knoxville. A completely flat top wing may run a (1) inch wickerbill. Last years wings are still legal...CZ

Thanks for the info guys. It is my understanding that the new "Hard" and "Medium" will be 6 points harder and not only narrower, but also a bit smaller in diameter.
The WoO and Knoxville 410's appear to be heading to a 3 tire choice. They are a new compound, SC12, SC15 and SC25. I have no idea what the differences are (maybe similar to the D12, RD12 and D10??? and maybe a stiffer sidewall).

I wonder if ASCS is going to mandate all the Regions onto the same spec tire. I hope so it makes it easier on the co-sanction shows. Right now I know SOD and the Patriots have different spec tires. Anyone heard if they are going to put everyone on the same tire?

It is my understanding that all major sanctions and tracks will be switching to the new tire rule.
I can tell you that Lake Ozark Speedway will adopt the new tire and wing rules.

according to Cappie (at a meeting I was at with him a couple hours ago) the RR rule will without a doubt be the same as WoO, and that appears to be a single tire, not a choice.
Also sort of a rule on LR also.
