Tech question about rear axle spline length and wheel offset for a winged car.

We always have ran long spline rear axles on both the left and right side but I recently ran across several rear ends for sale that are either short spline on both right and left or long spline on right and short spline on left.  All of our RR wheel's are 5, 6, 7 off's and our LR wheel's are all 5 off's.  Can anyone tell me if I would still be able to use the wheel's I have or would I need to buy some 3 and 4 off's to make this work?  On a typical night, we keep our LR in as tight as we can so I think LR we would be ok but I'm not sure on RR?  We typically keep our RR between 16.5" and 18.5" from the outer edge of the top bumper spud to the center of the tire.  Could we get our RR out that far - 18.5"?  And maybe I'm wrong on the LR too, maybe we couldn't get the LR where we need it?

I know I could probably go out to the shop and figure all this out with a little time but let's face it, it's hot and I'm fat and lazy.  Was hoping to get the answer while chilling in front of the TV :)
