Jerrod Hull – Another Tough Track!

(Bill W) June 16, 2015 – Last Saturday night saw Jerrod Hull and the Midland Performance #12 with an all too familiar scenario at the Route 45 Raceway in Flora, Illinois.  Another track that was tough to pass on resulted in a seventh place finish with the MOWA series.  Unlike Jacksonville Speedway, which rubbered up on June 4, however, Flora’s issue was Mother Nature and two and a half hours of rain delays.

The Sikeston, Missouri driver was slated to start fifth in the first heat.  “Rain started falling just as we were headed out for the heat,” says Jerrod.  “They had about a forty-five minute rain delay.  We were headed out again and we got on the track and it started pouring.  That was an hour and forty-five minutes.  At that point, they had to get the road graders out there and everything else.”

By the time the track was race ready, the track was too fast.  “By the time we were ready for the heat, the track was one-lane and wide open,” says Jerrod.  “We started fifth, and we finished fifth.  We weren’t able to move up.”

That finish set him up back in row seven for the feature.  “The track had gotten a little better, and widened a little bit,” says Jerrod.  “We were able to get a couple of cars on the outside on the start. We were picking a car off here or there.  The track was still a little tough, but we were able to move up.”

After shooting forward seven spots to seventh, Mother Nature put an end to it all.  “The rain came and ended that after fifteen laps,” says Jerrod.  “I don’t know how much farther we could have moved up…maybe a couple more, I don’t know.  It was a tough night again.  Track-wise, we’ve had two nights in a row where it’s been tough.”

MOWA is back in action on June 27 at Tri-State Speedway and Jerrod hopes he duplicates his results a year ago on the ¼-mile oval.  “We’re looking forward to getting on some good dirt,” he says. “We’ll take this weekend off, but our next race is at Haubstadt, and we know that will be nice.  We can’t wait to get there.  We were able to win there last year, and we’d like to get going again and get some top threes anyway.”

Jerrod and the #12 team would like to thank: Midland Performance, Super Shox, Sebastian Sand Blasting & Powder Coating, Inc., Chuck’s Small Engines, Don Hamilton, HRP, Lighthouse Christian Center, Rockstar Graphics, King Racing Products, DMI, KSE Performance Products, Hoosier Tire, Simpson, Weld, Automotive Machine, Maxim and Heartland Trailer Manufacturing.
