Bronson Maeschen (25th car out to time) set quick time for the third time this year, registering a 14.739 second lap, leading 13 cars under the 15 second mark on a fast track. Skip Jackson (21st car out) was second quick, followed by Billy Alley (12th), Davey Heskin (14th), Randy Anderson (23rd), Jack Dover (24th), Travis Cram (17th), Ricky Logan (20th), Calvin Landis (15th) and Clint Garner (2nd). Dion Hindi recorded one lap at the end after missing his time spot.

Johnson led the distance in the 8 lapper. Mitrisin's move on the high side of turns one and two when the green flag fell vaulted him by Dobmeier, Heskin and Maeschen and into fourth. Antill and Garner had a nice battle for second. Johnson turned laps in the 15.1 range after four 360 heats had been run.

Weuve and Hindi battled for the lead through lap six in some great side by side action. Technically, Weuve led flag to flag, though Hindi led briefly during one circuit. On lap seven, Logan came to a stop, surrendering fourth. The benefactor was Phillips, who grabbed the final transfer.

Farrell led flag to flag. Gharst got around Dover early to grab the final transfer.

When the green fell, Deavers got upside down on the frontstretch and landed facing skyward in the middle of the track in a peculiar position. He was uninjured. Dover led throughout in the 8 lapper when the racing commenced. Dobmeier outmuscled Heskin early for the final transfer, and held it through a restart on lap seven for a stopped McCarl.

Mid-15s were still being turned in the 25 lapper. Landis checked out from the beginning with Cram in tow to grab the $4,000 to win event. On lap four, Antill came to a stop bringing caution. Landis led Cram, Alley, Jackson and Anderson back to green flag racing. Jackson shot around Alley to nab third, before a lap 14 stoppage for Garner, who turned over in turn two. He was unhurt, but done. Johnson had retired the lap prior. The top five spots remained the same, with Landis overtaking Jackson for third in the final point standings by 10 points. Dobmeier earned the $300 hard-charger honors by moving up nine spots. Brown had clinched his first track title before the night began.

Higday had blown his motor in hot laps, putting his 41 point lead over Dobesh in dire straits. He replaced Dennis Moore Jr. in the Wares/Harrison 10, and started at the tail of the third heat. With D. Hall sidelined, Van Haaften inherited a front row starting spot and made the most of it, by becoming the high point getter on the night. Dawson retired after one lap.
Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Gregg Bakker 11x (2*) 2. Nate Mosher 22N (4*) 3. Jarod Smith 24 (7*) 4. Tim St. Arnold 7s (1*) 5. John Schulz 2 (5) 6. Rick Ideus 5 (8) 7. Tyler Houseman 50 (3) 8. Josh Schneiderman 49 (6)
Bakker led early in the 7 lapper. Schneiderman was running fourth on lap three when he appeared to slow in turns three and four. He was contacted by J. Smith, resulting in the 49 getting upside down. He would return for the B. The restart saw Bakker ahead of Mosher, St. Arnold, Smith, and T. Houseman. Smith continued his good run by shooting around St. Arnold for third on the restart.

Thompson led throughout on the fast track. Higday's charge from the back fell short, sending him to the tail of the B and only 37 points ahead of Dobesh, who finished fourth. Lenz was scored the 8L, but drove Larry Week's 00.

Selvage dominated from the front row. Crall and Beaver put on the best race of the heat. R. Hall ran well from the tail to fourth.

Roberts led throughout. D. Hall broke on lap 2 of the 10 lapper, bringing out the yellow. Schneiderman and Higday made nice charges from way back, but both fell short of the fleet front four. Ideus was fifth on the lap two restart, but brought his mount by Hunt and Schulz to third.

Smith took the early lead in the 20 lapper. Dobesh needed eighth to win the Knoxville Cup over Higday. Selvage stayed with Smith early on before a lap seven spin by Van Haaften, who retired. Smith led Selvage, Mosher, Bakker and Moro back to green flag racing. The rest of the race went non-stop. Smith's motor had been smoking, and gave in on lap nine, when he pulled in. Selvage assumed the lead and pulled away. With around five laps left, the traffic got heavy, and Bakker began to reel the leader in. Selvage was able to hold him off for his first career win at the famous half-mile. Dobesh worked his way into eighth, but eventually succombed to Mather and Anderson. That resulted in Higday winning the Cup by 7 points. Dobesh did salvage the Owner's point championship as a result of Higday's misfortune with the Snodgrass 2x. Ideus was the hard-charger, earning an extra $100.
