At your local track, wherever it may be, what ONE thing needs improvement the most?

What ONE thing is your track doing the best at?

Think of yourself as a newbe spectator.

I race at one of the nicest speedways in the nation (okc) but, consistancy in penalties or judgement calls would be nice. And hide the keys to the water truck after 5:30pm. Their best attribute is the ability to start at 7:30pm and run 4 classes (100-120 cars) and be done by 10:30pm.

Well, if it ain't ole Mike Honcho!

I am lucky enough to work for and attend a track (Lake Ozark Speedway) that the owner has resurrected the art of promotion. There are television and radio ads every week. He has giveaways each week, frisbees, t-shirts, bicycles and trophy's to the kids and such. On top of that, the bathrooms are SPOTLESS and have attendants in them. If the racing is not over by 10:30pm at the latest, the management is not happy at all about it. If the track dries out, you can bet that the track prep people hear about it from the management. We even have a feedback form on the website that people can send a message directly to the owner to let them know of their experiences at the track, he reads every one of them and contacts them to address any problems.

The only drawback that I have ever seen is that there tends to be a lacking of push trucks on some shows, but I can't really blame the management for that, he has purchased 3 trucks of his own and we have advertised to try to get more there, but there are not alot of them here in central Missouri.

I think Williams Grove and Lincoln do a great job. I think the Grove could definitely benefit from some rule changes however. For the number of high dollar shows they have (seems like half the schedule), their heritage, and also being the only track running on Friday nights... there is no way they shouldn’t have twice as many cars running for points if the racing was made even a little bit more affordable.

I don’t get to Port Royal very much. It seems like they could do some work there. The ancient tin catch fence going into turn one seems like it would be hard pressed to keep a race car out of the midway at the fair.

Susky needs a ton of work. The facilities tell the tale that it has sat vacant and/or struggled for decades now. Todd Fisher doesn’t seem to have much money and he didn’t pay a whole lot for it (comparatively speaking) so I would have to believe it will continue down the path it’s on for the near future...which means back gate promoting running classes that pay for themselves two and three nights a week, he's even adding a kart track. Running ASCS Sunday nights for half the purse has a good a shot as the 410s on Thursdays I would have to think...he can’t get much worse a crowd or car count than he had many nights, especially once the season got rolling along. He actually probably didn't do half bad in the spring. The reason I started to get tired of it myself was all the different classes dragging things out. The thunder cars at Lincoln have great racing, much "closer" than even the 410s many nights. Fisher could just run the extreme stocks at Susky all together... He doesn't need a couple of different divisions of them. Most of his problem is the facility itself however and especially that there is already so many more established race tracks nearby on even better nights. He's searching for his niche. ASCS might be it? Some URC teams might want to race Sundays, a lot of former 410 drivers fill their ranks after being forced out anyway... Carber being the latest. Some 358 teams might also want to be the headline show for more money than they have been getting, and also the chance to run some bigger shows. I guess we'll find out...lol. The "Will ASCS make it in Central PA?" question will be at the forefront next year.

Clean up/modernize the rest rooms. Hire an attendant.

Affordable concesssions, with some variety, not just hot dogs/hamburgers.....

On time shows run efficiently - no extended intermission. ten or fifteen minutes, tops.

If the track sells beer, have an alcohol free, family-friendly section.

Chuck.....
