DAMION GARDNER BACK TO BONNEVILLE TO TRY FOR 200-MPH IN A SPRINT CAR!
(Concord, CA, September 7, 2014) One month after being thwarted by rain, the “World’s Fastest Sprint Car Driver,” Damion Gardner, returns to the famous Bonneville Salt Flats to continue his assault on the 200-MPH barrier in his famous “Green Demon” sprint car.
In his first attempt at Bonneville in August of 2013, the Concord, California based racer came away with a top speed of 193.27 and a lot of knowledge on how to go faster. Last month, Gardner and the entire team were poised to make history and get to 200-MPH when torrential rains left the famous salt surface underwater and forced cancellation of the annual Speed Week. Gardner immediately targeted his next assault on the record for this week and he is in Bonneville now.
Gardner did not arrive in Bonneville until this morning after driving all night from the scene his latest triumph at the Santa Maria Speedway last evening. He has been busy with the USAC/CRA Series the past three nights when he dominated the action at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, Ocean Speedway in Watsonville and Santa Maria. He won the main event at each track and was crowned “California Sprint Week” champion. He swept the Silver Dollar and Ocean shows by also being fast qualifier and winning his heat races. In addition, his fast qualifying times at Chico and Watsonville were both new track records.
Now Gardner is focused on the “Green Demon” and Bonneville where he may make his first attempt at going 200-MPH on Sunday. The salt has dried out and the team reports that it looks fast.
Keep an eye out for these reports which will keep you posted on Gardner’s quest at being the first person to drive a sprint car at 200-MPH.
