This Saturday afternoon promises to be filled with fun, food and fellowship as race fans and drivers descend upon Jefferson, South Dakota, 12 miles north of Sioux City for the first annual Mafia Bean Bag Toss. The Minnesota Mafia which is a group of race fans helping racers, and the Park Jefferson Speedway will partner up with Bud’s Bar to host the event to bring you together with drivers. All fans are invited to attend the event at Bud’s Bar in Jefferson to meet some of your favorite drivers up close and see their racecars. In addition, fans can partner up in teams of 2 and enter the Bean Bag Toss tournament. The tournament, also called cornhole, will see teams compete for a chance to win $100, a fancy trophy and free tickets to the nights racing at Park Jefferson Speedway. Entry fees of $20 will be split between the Minnesota Mafia and our very special charity Camp High Hopes.
Our charity for the event is Camp High Hopes, which offers year-round therapeutic recreation programs and respites in Sioux City, IA designed to enrich the lives of youth and adults with diagnosed disabilities, chronic illnesses, and other special needs. Our specialized programs include experiences in archery, canoeing, and nature education, amongst others, for individuals and groups with Autism, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, and other intellectual and physical disabilities.
After the nights races, we will present Camp High Hopes with a donation from the Bean Bag Toss as well as from 50/50 ticket sales that night at Park Jefferson Speedway. Don’t forget racing on Saturday night at Park Jefferson starts with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow. We will have the powerful sprint cars of the ASCS Midwest Series and the Minnesota Mafia along with the local stars of Park Jefferson Speedway in the sport modified, hobby stock, sport compact and thunder car classes.
