SPEED WEEK CANCELED - DAMION GARDNER WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR 200-MPH SPRINT CAR RUN!

(Concord, CA, August 9, 2014)  Southern California Timing Association officials decided this morning to cancel 2014 Speed Week on the Bonneville Salt Flats due to wet conditions caused by Wednesday night’s heavy thunderstorm. Thus, Damion Gardner’s assault on a 200-MPH run in a sprint car has been pushed back until at least September.

The build up for the historic run has taken a year’s worth of preparation for the shot at 200.  Needless to say, the weather development is disappointing for Gardner and the entire team.

“I am pretty disappointed as we worked so hard all year just to get here,” the champion sprint car racer said after learning of the cancelation.  “I don’t know much about the salt, but I went out there a couple of times this week and I kind of knew this could happen as it was under six or eight inches of water.  Everyone was trying to be optimistic as everyone comes from a long way, but the salt was just not going to dry out enough.  I guess I am ready for when I get to try and do it again.”

The next attempt may not by that far off.  There are other meets on the Salt Flats this year including one in September.

“We are looking into a couple of different meets up there later this year,” the disappointed driver said.  “We will try to get it done this year.  If not, we will come back next year.”

Everything, including the disappointment of the rain-off  is being shot for an exciting documentary titled, “The World’s Fastest Sprint Car.”  The made for TV production is being written, directed and produced by Surf N’ Sprint and will be shot by the award winning racing specialists from LoudPedal Productions. You can take a sneak peek at the documentary at the following link.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp1JvkD9aaI&feature=youtu.be
