Brian Hetrick Honored in Saturday's 305 Feature!

This Saturday night's 305 feature will be raced in honor of the late Brian Hetrick. Money is being added to the purse by the Hetrick family.

Brian Hetrick at age 29 lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident in August of 2008 near Dallas City, Ill. He had been a native of Gladstone, Ill, but most recently resided in Stronghurst, Ill with his wife Julie. He is survived by his parents Jim and Joyce Hetrick, and brother Kevin all from Gladstone.
Brian set high standards while in school and during his four years of college in both academics and sports. He was a member of the National Honor Society and was the first all-stater in football at Union High School, Biggsville, Ill., among earning many other awards and achievements.
Right out of high school, Brian began racing winged sprint cars in the 360 class and later in the 305 class. He won the 2000 annual sprint car drivers' foot race in Oskaloosa sponsored by Musco Lighting. The 'payout' was $1000 check along with a large trophy he received. He had earned the point champion title in the 305 class at 34 Raceway in 2008 just prior to his untimely death.
Brian raced on tracks in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. His favorite was Knoxville, Ia because of the notoriety of the "Sprint Car Capital of the World". He was part of the Hetrick family who raced at the famous half mile, as did his father from mid-seventies to mid-eighties, and also his uncle. Brian's brother Kevin has been enjoying the 305 class recently also there.
Brian Hetrick always sported the number 35 in racing as well as all sports he participated. Kevin has now adopted that number 35 on his sprinter in memory of his late brother.
