Brady Bacon – Schedule Picks Up With/Without Wing This Week! (Bill W) May 20, 2014 – Brady Bacon has a four-race week planned that includes action with USAC, where he sits atop the current point standing. Other events will include the wing with the All Stars in Fremont, Ohio and the World of Outlaws in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Last weekend in Ohio, the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma driver tested the weekly field at Attica Raceway Park with the wing, and took it off to charge from the tail to eighth (twice) with the non-wing BOSS series at Eldora Speedway. Things got off to a rough start Friday at Attica when Brady timed in fifth best in his heat race group and finished in the same spot. “Hot laps doubles as qualifying, and I’d only been there once,” he says. “We weren’t very good there or in the heat race really.” After winning the B, the car improved and he shot forward from his feature starting spot outside of row nine. “We made some changes for the B feature and we were pretty good,” says Brady. “We started 18th in the feature, and we had gotten up to tenth or eleventh. I got over the cushion in turn three and rolled over. The results weren’t there, but we did make a lot of progress with the setup for the next time we go to Attica.” The BOSS series visited the high banks of Eldora on Saturday. The series uses a draw format to set up heats. “Normally, that format doesn’t work too badly for us,” says Brady. “But I seem to always start in the back (seventh on Saturday) with those heats that don’t use passing points. I also had the only heat race where everyone seemed up to speed. We got going a little slow and couldn’t quite get going quick enough, but we were able to finish fourth.” The fourth place finish meant a start inside row ten for the main event. “We were able to get a good start and get up to seventh or eighth,” says Brady. “I was going to slide the guy in front of me, and he decided he was going to the middle. I got sideways and spun out.” Brady put on another show from the rear of the field. “We were able to come back through there and finish eighth,” he says. “We had a really good car at Eldora, but things just didn’t fall our way.” It will be a busy Memorial Day weekend for Brady. “We’ll be back with USAC in the Hoffman (#69) car racing at the Tony Hulman Classic in Terre Haute on Wednesday,” he says. “We’re taking Friday off, and then we’ll be back in the wing car at Fremont (OH) with the All Stars on Saturday and Sunday, and with the Outlaws at Lawrenceburg (IN) on Monday.” Clearly familiar with Terre Haute and Lawrenceburg, Brady is hoping some previous success despite limited starts at Fremont, carries over this weekend. “We have a little bit of a grasp on Fremont,” he says. “We’ve finished in the top five there before at least. We’re a lot closer there than we are at Attica.” Follow Brady on his Website, Twitter and Facebook! Follow Brady at his website located at www.BradyBaconRacing.com!
