Jerrod Hull – Another Championship Year!

(Bill W) November 4, 2013 – There have been years with more wins than Jerrod Hull had in 2013, but all was said and done, he stood atop the podium with another series championship.  This year marked the third consecutive title with the Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) for the Sikeston, Missouri driver.

The year started out with a series of setbacks and Jerrod suffered in the MOWA point race.  “We definitely started out with some nights of bad luck, whether it was flat tires, rear-ends or whatever,” he says.  “That really got us behind in the points, and we didn’t know if we really had much of a chance.”

AJ Bruns led the MOWA standings for much of the summer.  “Then we had a run of some good luck,” says Jerrod.  “Everything started going our way.  We had our bad luck early in the year, and AJ had his later on.”

Jerrod would have to wait until the end of July for his first win, a tally at Macon Speedway during Illinois Sprintweek.  “We had like four seconds in a row (in June and July),” he says.  “Then we were able to get a couple of wins.  We didn’t have a lot of them this year, but we had the consistency.”

The veteran would add a win in August at Montgomery Motorsports Park in New Florence, Missouri and his biggest win of the year was the $4,000 Queen’s Royale at St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington, Missouri in September.  It was a win that had eluded him on several occasions in the past.

Jerrod is appreciative of all the partners who help make the team a success.  “We’d like to thank Rockwell American, Hoosier, Simpson, Maxim and all the folks who helped us this year,” he says.  “I have to thank my crew chief Scott (Bonar) and Chuck’s Small Engines.  I have to thank my wife Nicole too.  She’s the one who lets me do this!”

One member of the team for years was recently lost.  “We lost a really good friend in Charlie Hawk (last week),” says Jerrod.  “Having ‘Team Charlie’ around was always an important part of our team.”

Jerrod is hoping to run a similar schedule next season.  “We’re not sure what our sponsorship looks like yet for 2014,” he says.  “But we’ll probably be running pretty much the same schedule.”

Jerrod and the #12 team would like to thank: Rockwell American, Midland Performance, Super Shox, Sebastian Sand Blasting & Powder Coating, Inc., Sherwin Williams, Chuck’s Small Engines, Don Hamilton, HRP, Lighthouse Christian Center, Logo Daddy, Hoosier Tire, Simpson, Weld, Automotive Machine, Maxim and Heartland Trailer Manufacturing.
