Brad Loyet – Fourth in 410 Start at Tri-City! (Bill W) October 10, 2013 – Brad Loyet and the Vacuworx Global/Miller Truck Lines #o5 team used a rare 410 start close to home to net an impressive fourth place finish. The MOWA event last Friday night at Tri-City Speedway near Granite City, Illinois, saw a field of 30+ sprinters in attendance. The Sunset Hills, Missouri driver will take a weekend off to get ready for two big weeks with the Lucas Oil ASCS National series in Texas and Arkansas. Brad would start outside of row one and finish second in his heat to start the night Friday at Tri-City. “It was wide open around the top,” he says. “(Paul) Nienhiser got a little bit better start than we did. I thought we had a little better car, but it was one of those deals where you put your foot in it and held on for eight laps. Somehow, second put us in the top eight for the Dash.” He was able to move forward in the Dash. “We were supposed to line up eighth,” says Brad. “A couple guys couldn’t make it, so we lined up sixth for it. We ended up running fourth. We were able to gain some spots there.” The Dash finish set Brad up outside row two to start the main event. “I had a really good start,” he says. “We had three or four restarts, and the car ran well on every one of them. We got up to second right off the bat. We had a really good car, and we were running up against the wall.” He found himself trying to chase down a veteran. “We hadn’t run a 410 in a while, and (Terry) McCarl was good out front,” says Brad. “I don’t know that we had anything for him. We had a restart with about ten to go, and we had a good run going. I was using a lot of brake up against the wall, and my brakes started to fade on me.” The lack of brakes ended up costing Brad a couple of spots. “(Christopher) Bell threw a slider on me, and it was one of those things where I had to let him go,” he says. “Unfortunately, when I got out of the throttle for that, Brady Bacon was able to capitalize on the situation and get by me too.” All in all, it was a good night. “We came home fourth and overall, we were happy with that, having not raced the 410 too much this year,” says Brad. “We’ll move on from there. We’re going to take the week off to get ready for Devil’s Bowl (October 18 and 19).” Brad will enter action at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas fourth in ASCS points. He trails Jeff Swindell, who is in third, by just nine markers.
