Jerrod Hull – Trials of Granite City!

(Bill W) October 7, 2013 – It was quite the night for Jerrod Hull and the Rockwell American #12 team as they close in on their third Midwest Open Wheel Association title in a row.  With the help of fellow competitor Jimmy Davies, the team was able to borrow a car after a blown motor and run 11thin the feature event after starting at the tail.  This weekend, MOWA concludes their season in Illinois at Lincoln Speedway on Friday and Jacksonville Speedway on Saturday.

The Sikeston, Missouri driver had the best start to the night possible, winning his heat going away. “We were able to start on the pole of the second heat,” says Jerrod.  “It had some good cars in it…I think Ian Madsen, Christopher Bell and Joey Moughan were just a few of them.  We were able to get the lead and stay out there and pull away to win by a straightaway.  The motor may have been running too well, because at the checkered, we blew a rod out of it!  The car was so nice before that.”

That’s when Davies came to the team’s aid.  “Jimmy Davies…we get along with him well,” says Jerrod.  “He offered his car for us to run.  We were allowed to run a couple of laps in the Dash.  There was a steering problem.  We changed the power steering pump for the feature.”

Jerrod’s charge in the feature moved him one step closer to another MOWA championship.  “We got in the feature and had the same type problem…but we did start 20th and got up to 11th,” he says.  “I hate it for AJ (Bruns), but he missed the show.  That let us gain some points.”

The team has plans to borrow a motor for this weekend’s final MOWA events.  “Despite everything that happened, everything worked out o.k. for us,” says Jerrod.  “We’re going to borrow a motor off of Brian Wagoner this weekend.  We’re just lucky to have some friends that can loan us some stuff. We’ll go on to the next one, and go from there!”

Jerrod and the #12 team would like to thank: Rockwell American, Midland Performance, Super Shox, Sebastian Sand Blasting & Powder Coating, Inc., Sherwin Williams, Chuck’s Small Engines, Don Hamilton, HRP, Lighthouse Christian Center, Logo Daddy, Hoosier Tire, Simpson, Weld, Automotive Machine, Maxim and Heartland Trailer Manufacturing.
