“Summer Sizzle” is on tap this Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. as the 2013 USAC Southwest Sprint cars return to the 3/8-mile dirt oval near Phoenix.
Josh Pelkey of Peoria, Ariz. led wire-to-wire to win Saturday night’s race at Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, Ariz., piloting the ABC Body Shop/NAPA DRC/Advanced machine. Series point leader R.J. Johnson finished second ahead of Shon Deskins, Bruce St. James and Mike Martin.
Johnson enjoys a 77-point lead over runner-up Charles Davis Jr. in the latest standings going into Saturday’s race at Peoria, where the Phoenix driver has been unstoppable, winning all four outings.
