How does everyone cut their torque tubes? Is a lathe recommended? I have a 87x40 Maxim, DMI driveline, Winter's rearend. What length torque tube would you use? I know the Maxim tech sheet recommends 26.25" for a 40" setback. Any advice?

I have an 87/40 maxim too and I cut mine down to 26.25". I would recommend you take your tubes to a local machine shop so they can not only cut it down to length, but run the lathe across the back of the flange that mounts to the front of the rear end to make sure it's perpendicular the the center line of the driveshaft. I also have them come I'm from the side of the flange (where you measure side to side when squaring rear end) and allow then too just nick the surface of the flange to show me the high point and I make sure to point the mark straight up when bolting up the torque tube in the car.
