CRA “SALUTE TO INDY” AT PERRIS SATURDAY;
SPENCER BACK IN TOP FORM AT TULARE
Mike Spencer is looking forward to this Saturday night’s “Salute to Indy” AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint race at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Spencer is the defending race winner and vaulted to third in the most recent series points after his first 2013 victory at Tulare (Calif.) Thunderbowl Raceway last Saturday.
The five-time series champion led the final four laps at Tulare after passing Ryan Bernal on lap 27. Trailing Spencer’s Grubstake Mini Storage/Madera Produce Maxim/Shaver were Bernal, Danny Faria Jr., Bud Kaeding and Matt Mitchell. Nic Faas led the first five laps, Kaeding led the next 11, Spencer led lap 17, Bernal then paced nine laps and Spencer led the rest.
Damion Gardner has a 21-point lead over Faas in the current standings. They finished sixth and eighth respectively at Tulare.
