Haven't heard anything about Jake "The Snake" Peters racing this year. Anybody know if he has retired.

Sure miss the 57x on the track. Jake is always fun to watch. Last time i remember him racing was 2 years ago at Jackson.

The last time I saw him was at the 07 April race at I-80 and he took a really wild ride and I havent heard or seen much of him after that.

Pretty sure Jake sold everything and moved back to Wagner, SD. Great guy and hell of a driver back in the day!!

The Snake is done racing... He and his wife bought a farm in Wagner last summer and just had a son about 6 months ago...he sold out about mid season last year due to lack of funds, a kid on the way and a slight head injury from several hard spills, one came from i-80 about 5 years ago which was pretty nasty and was about the end of The Snake...But yea The Snake was a great talent on and off the track and very intelligent... He could was smooth, fast and clean, set his own car up, fuel his own motors, tought himself how to weld when he built a 40 foot enclosed trailer, etc....

My lasting memory of Jake will be closing a Sioux Falls motel lounge one night after the swap meet. Peters and Schnee were both in rare form that night. Vinster gassing out half the bar stools was pretty humorous as well. When the bar closed I remember Mark Toews and a bunch of other folks in our room talking racing until someone started pounding on the walls. ;)
