In today's (May 3, 2013) issue of "USA TODAY" there's an extensive article about Kyle that starts on the front page of the Sports section. The article can also be viewed on the "USA TODAY" web site.

Excellent article.. Thanks for posting it.

I'm just a race fan from NW Iowa, who happened to go looking for a race one Thursday afternoon during the 2003 Knoxville Nationals. Thats how I met Kyle and his family.

I have been a Larson fan since I first seen him race, and met his family back in 2003 at English Creek Speedway in Knoxville, when they came out to race the Go Kart Nationals.. I have followed his career closely, and have never been anything short of amazed at his talent. In the early years of following him, I truly thought that he was in some kind of a "zone" with his racing program, and would suffer a fallout sometime.. To date, 10 years later, I havent seen anything to show me that he cant compete on the highest level of racing, whatever that may be.. He is a winner, and an overall great person.. as the article indicated.

When I say I'm a "Larson fan", I mean, I am a fan of the whole family. Mike, Janet and Andrea are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet at a dirt track, and if you follow dirt track racing very much, you also know that there are so very many great people involved all the way thru the ranks. Mike and Janet invited me out to go to Gold Cup in about 2008. I hadnt seen them since 2004, but they still made the call. They secured me a place to camp at the fairgrounds, and even went so far as to provided me with a tent, (all set up) air mattress and a sleeping bag, so I didnt have to haul all that stuff from Iowa. Thats the kind of people they are..

I'm proud to call them friends.. I am also looking forward to seeing them soon!

Very good article.

I Liked that rpmx's comments were on actually knowing the Larson family, I know this site gets alot of threads started about Kyle and some people get annoyed and want to hate on him but I think the thing here is that alot of people on here know Kyle and his family personally or he came up locally and they feel they have a connection and are just very proud of what he's doing. It gets brought up alot that sprint car racing, especially the die hard fans, are a pretty small, close knit community and this is a case where someone that has came up threw the ranks is succeeding big time and its almost like the proud parents effect, those people that have known or followed him for a long time want to point out how great this kid is doing and the potential that even the biggest stars are now seeing in him. For me, I don't know him and am not from the West coast, but I have also enjoyed watching his success. Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart both came up through open wheel racing as well and I'm sure there was alot of pride out there when they started gaining national attention as well but back then there was way less internet and no Hoseheads for these conversations, if there would have been, I'm sure it would have been similar conversations and threads. I'm all for seeing Kyle succeed to the highest degree and have only heard good things about him and his family, at least all the believable things were positive, I take the few trolls comments with a grain of salt.

I personally have found myself checking out the NASCAR races alot more to see how Kyle and the guys like Tony and Kasey are doing. Any form of racing is much more enjoyable to watch, IMO, when there is someone out there you know who they are and can root for.

awesome article, disspelling some fiction spread by trolls on message boards like this one. I hope for nothing but success for Kyle, he deserves it. it's obvious he loves racing, & his family has done a great job of keeping him grounded.

speedkills and larryitis both have made excellent comments.

I had the pleasure of watching young Kyle when he first got into a sprinter.

I trust he remains injury free and has an excellent career in NASCAR ...........AND.....unlike Jeffy-Poo, doesn't forget his roots!
