Ventura, California: Maxwell Industries makes “biggie” size footprints on the wide world of motorsports. Maxwell shock, spring and torsion bar dynamometers designed and marketed by Steve “Biggie” Watt played a part in no fewer than 312 feature wins among 42 drivers of sprint and midgets around the world in 2012. This year, Maxwell expands to late model stock cars through legendary Scott Bloomquist. Sprints and midgets are what Watt personally races. Towing two or three at a time, Maxwell fielded Finland’s Markus Niemala, Matt Mitchell, Nic Faas, Jeff Sibley, Dennis Howell and Jon Stanbrough as drivers during 2012. Niemala and Sibley are his pilots in 2013, which began with “The Flyin’ Fin” making the Chili Bowl final. Maxwell has evolved into very diverse business such as public trains in cities such as San Diego and Chicago, land speed rocket in the Utah desert, and Baja 1000 in Mexico with Steve’s sprint and midget pals Cory Kruseman, Rickie Gaunt and Danny Ebberts. Just as it does for many street machines, Maxwell manufactured oil tanks, oil pans, coolers and headers for Hellfire Hemi 368 that propelled the Speed Demon of Ron Main and George Poteet to 439mph as “the fastest piston engine wheel driven car in history.” Maxwell will now bridge the gap between sprint cars and land speed records by bringing a USAC-legal machine to El Mirage and Bonneville Salt Flats. Damion Gardner will make history as the primary driver. Anyone who has seen “The Demon” in action knows that the 2005 USAC/CRA champion is just the man to top 200, a speed which no sprint car has ever achieved. Few racers maintain such a “biggie” pace as Steve Watt. If you desire the most reliable method of testing shocks, springs or bars, need custom header work for your road rocket, or wish to race top shelf sprints or midgets, www.MaxwellIndustries.com is your one-stop shop. Mr. and Mrs. Watt are available to answer questions at (805) 649.1070.
