I for one thought the track had made alot of improvements very well lit I did not get a chance to go into the grandstands but wow they were packed for a Tuesday night. The track it self well it looked tricky I guess is the best word for it.Car count was low but it is almost everywhere. Great time at the Park. A big thanks the management team at the park for bringing the WOO back to TEXAS!!! What was everyone elses thoughts?

Had a great time. Took lots of photos and hung out with some good people.

Wish there were more races in Texas... :(

Got to admit when listening on the internet, I got a good laugh from the track announcer in his full Ringo Starr dialect dry numerous time try to use Craig Dollansky's name in the post race interview. After many and multi variations, he finally settled in on Doonnnnyyyy Laaaasoooskiiiiii!!!!! Johnny Gibson handled very professionally. I was still chuckling to myself some time late.

Ruben Mireles is the El Paso Speedway Park announcer's name. Yes, he got very nervous, and confused about the driver's names in victory lane. But if you listened to him call the modified (the class is MUCH more familiar with) races, he's actually a pretty good announcer, and will only get better with time. Oh by the way--he's 14 YEARS OLD! (And he felt terrible about victory lane. . .)

Tell the kid to just brush it off Johnny, everyone has to start somewhere (if he was 35 and had been announcing for 10 years or more, maybe criticism would be warranted).

Blake Anderson (announces @ Knoxville as well as did USAC for a full season) started at a very similar age and at 22-23 years old is a very polished announcer and does a great job no matter the class of cars. Hopefully we don't lose him to TV or Radio (he majored in communications @ UNI if I remember correctly and interned @ WHOTV in DesMoines last year).

Hopefully Ruben will keep at it and maybe we'll be listening to him call the WoO races on TV, online or radio someday when you decide to retire (not too soon though, prior to you there were events I attended that were BRUTAL for a spectator as some tracks didn't have announcers that had ever SEEN a sprint car, let alone tried to call a race).

I listened to the entire night and Ruben did a great job with the Modifieds, just needs more "lap time" when the big dogs roll in. 14? pretty darn good for 14, keep it going Ruben.

Had a chance to work a couple shows last year where Ruben was announcing and he does a great job. He got a little flustered Tuesday night but it happens, he's good and you'll hear more from him in the future.
