(from OneDirt.com) When it was announced that NASCAR would be returning to dirt, we were very excited about the opportunity to see some of our favorites enter the first annual dirt event. Today our friends at National Speed Sport News confirmed that open wheel ace Tracy Hines landed a one race truck ride in a reunion with ThorSport Racing.
Hines competed in over 50 truck series events for ThorSport racing from 2004-2005. “We’re excited to have a driver with Tracy’s ability in one of our trucks for a truly unique event that we feel will really highlight what he’s done at that venue as well as what he can do in the series’ first dirt race,” ThorSport general manager David Pepper said. “We’re looking at Tracy to be a positive influence on our entire organization through his experience as a top-level dirt car owner and driver, but especially through the insight he’ll be able to offer his teammates.”
Tracy Hines has one of the most impressive sprint car resumes as anyone out there. The open wheel ace has over 80 career victories on the dirt and was the 2000 USAC Silver Crown Champion.
For Hines he is excited about the opportunity to race a NASCAR sanctioned event on dirt, “The realization that a major NASCAR series is going back to dirt is super exciting,” Hines told NSSN. “What is it going to be? I don’t think anybody knows, until we run under that checkered flag, what we’re actually going to see. So that’s definitely huge.”
Will Hines be able to compete with the likes of Bloomquist when the trucks head to Eldora Speedway in July?
