I got to attend the races this weekend. Everyone knows the results so I won't bore you with those. I want to thank nwfan for sharing his room with me on Friday night to save me four hours of round-trip driving!

Tulare...could be a really GREAT track..if they could find a way to solve the turn one sink holes! TK is certainly a master of "disaster tracks" and Friday night the turn one holes were just too much. While Schatz got taken out by it TK was about to make the pass so I don't think his incident had any bearing on TK getting the win. He was on a mission and he showed everyone why he is such a threat and especially at Tulare.

I was really impressed by the young man filling in for Bill Rose...I think his name is David Gravel. Too bad this team can't get some significant sponsorship as I think he is a top five threat on any given night.

There were three cars who had their souvenir trailers with them and those trailers were inside the grandstand area....Steve, Darrah and Schatz. Steve and Schatz trailers seemed to do a brisk business on both evenings.

Steve Kinser - I'm sorry but it is sad to see how he is presently running. I won't belabor this as I want to remember him as the 20 time champion..not someone running in the rear of the pack.

Best "You gotta be kidding" award. This has to go to the WoO officials. Friday night Haud and Schatz had a great start for the feature. Well, they threw the yellow and I could not figure out why. They said Steve, starting 24th, jumped the start so they moved him to 25th!

Saturday night we all got covered with the dust from the track. I was really hoping Allard could get the win for Morrie Williams but it just wasn't to be. On each start Dollansky got the jump on him and other than a couple of guys who had timed poorly or didn't transfer out of their heat, there was little passing. Pittman would fall back behind the front two and was never a challenge to them.

Last week, on another forum, we had to pick our winners for the weekend. I had picked TK for Friday and Pittman for Saturday. Close, but as they say, no cigar!

The crowd was good but no sell out. Ticekts were $45 for "box seats" and $40 for turns one and four. Maybe that has something to do with it. At those prices I will probably take in the WoO show at Merced and then no more. It is just too expensive.

I truly hope Tulare can find a way to handle the problem(s) in turn one.

The non wingers were there and if I ever hear another fan of their racing tell me how they NEVER have all the red and yellow flags like winged cars I'll simply tell them to get a video of Friday nights race. The officials finally were merciful and "stuck a knife in it" after 14 of the announced 25 lap feature! Their Saturday night effort was better..thankfully!

So our "local drivers" secured a first on Friday and a second on Saturday so all in all not a bad showing running against some of the top drivers. Hopefully it will continue in the remaining races against the travelers. Smile

Hope you had as much fun this weekend as I had!

I was there also and agree with you on Friday except the fact that the hump in one has always been there. And most learn like haud or TK that a foot higher or lower and they miss it . That is part of Tulare .But as for Saturday the USAC 360s were a much better race than the WoO show. And the little passing there was came from TK working his way up from 16 to I think was a top 5. I believe he was the hard charger. Well done Ryan for winning the 360 show both nights. Also David Gravel . Hope we see a lot more of this guy.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Tulare is my home track, but even i can admitt that the surface has some problems, rubber down as other hoseheads have said andturn 1 and 2 have never been this bad,i think the last 5 or 6 races the surface has had the rubber down look and it takes away from the winged show, follow the leader, most everybody was on the bottom, not that entertaining and not sold out either, friday had a half empty look and sat not sold out,Tulare has some work to do,i am confident they will fix it,Fix it and they will come back.

talk...I certainly agree with you on the track. I wish they could find the secret to fixing the track. I can't recall ever seeing a problem in 3/4. Don't know the answer but hopefully they will discover the secret. Otherwise, a great racing facility. Best tri-tip sandwiches of any track!!!

What is the difference between Turn 1 and Turn 3?

Turn 3 does not have an exit.

When push trucks, pace cars, narrow tire/heavier race cars leave through the Turn 1 exit etc, this causes small ruts to form perpendicular to the racing line, especially when first working/packing and watering the track. When cars hit these ruts at speed it begins to peel up the racing surface. Find a way to exit the race track where vehicles do not have to climb the steep banking first and you will solve the problem. Maybe a track official at the back straight entrance directing two lanes of traffic for these vehicles? Exit from the front straight before entering Turn 1 and reroute pedestrian traffic?

Even if the ruts are always present, Tulare is the best track in the country.

the bumps in turn one are what gives tulare it's personality. everyone has to run the the same track and some figure it out better.

just a general observation. it seems everyone has something to bitch about these days. bitch about nascar bitch about sprint cars, bitch bitch bitch.

i have a suggestion. just STF up and enjoy what racing you want, or don't fucking watch any of it.

so now i am bitching about the bitching! lol. grow up people and stop acting like a bunch of cry babies.

to indy and beyond!!

It was different than in the past and they will get it figured out again . Please remember the man that used to keep this in shape passed recently. But that being said Tulare is still BadAss and I will keep coming back. But as far back as I can remember that hump has been there and it is just a part of it.

If somebody has Friday night on video I would suggest you buy it. TK, from the start, was on a mission and he flat out fed the travelers their lunch! What a race! Smile
