This Saturday Chowchilla Speedway is hosting the Oakie Bowl Hardtops. Here are some of the cars that have been at previous events this year. These cars are actually racing not just an exhibition. Crazy Kenny Farris macked the front straight wall and rolled his '46 Plymouth. He also has a '37 Dodge. The drivers have shuffled seats but there is a '50 Plymouth, '38 Desoto, a '40 Dodge, 55 Ford Falcon and others.

Ken Bonnema has been running real good there in a 1930 Ford with a Chevy 6, 250. The car is named Ghetto. Lots of interest in these old cars. I talked to Joe Diaz Jr there after the races the last time. I understand that there are more cars available and the car count has increased every time. The website says there will be old super modifieds coming out this Saturday.

Those Hardtops are a kick to watch! Just about every one of them has a fascinating story and history, so go down to the pits after to chat w/ the drivers. We saw them at Chow on 4/28, some photos are on 420racing.net under Chowchilla pictures...
