23 December 2012 – Jane Alexander – KMS Media Representative
WARRNAMBOOL – Tim Kaeding and the Krikke MotorSport Team kicked off their 2012/2013 Australian sprintcar campaign with a solid result on debut at Premier Speedway’s Twin Feature Night on Saturday 22 December 2012.
Kaeding set the fifth-fastest time, with an 11.885-second lap. He started Heat 1 from the outside of the front row, and finished fourth in his first racing laps aboard the KMS machine.
The Californian started his second heat from 11th, and powered his Toyota Genuine Parts Cool machine around the high line, running three-wide on the banked racetrack, to storm home in fourth.
His pair of fourth-place finishes gave Kaeding a fifth-row starting position for the night’s first feature race. He again drove the Black Deuce around the high line, powering through the field to fourth throughout the 20-lap race. On the final lap he pulled a masterful move to take third – a podium finish in his first night of racing with the Krikke MotorSport Team.
After a short interval, Kaeding strapped himself back into the Maxwill Motors Cool machine for the second feature. With the finishing order from the first feature inverted, “TK” started 15th and quickly began his charge through the field to eighth, before tagging the wall, which saw him finish just outside the top 10, in 11th position.
The team finished fourth overall in points; a solid achievement for the new –look Krikke MotorSport Team.
“Tim and the boys are very happy with their first hit out together”, said Krikke MotorSport Team Principal Shane Krikke. “We are really looking forward to getting to Adelaide for World Series Sprintcars. We wish all of our sponsors and supporters a very Merry Christmas, and a safe and Happy New Year”.
Tim Kaeding and the Krikke MotorSport Team now head to Adelaide for the commencement of World Series Sprintcars, and Round 1 of Speed Week, at Speedway City on Wednesday 26 December 2012.
