Kenny Wallace and Jerry Coons Jr. Set For Western Classic

Kevin Montgomery, PEORIA, Ariz. (October 29th, 2012) – Arizona native Jerry Coons Jr. will make his way from Indiana back to his home state anticipating home field advantage will play in his favor as he looks for USAC National Midget glory at Canyon Speedway Park’s Western Classic November 9th and 10th. Coons, who swept the 2012 Belleville Nationals, will pilot the Joe Dooling owned Spike/Esslinger tuned by National Midget Hall of Fame Mechanic Rusty Kunz as the trio looks to top a stout field of Midgets in the USAC National Midget Debut at CSP. The Western Classic will be the first stop for Coons who will pilot Robbie Allen’s ABC Body Shop ASCS Sprint Car just a few days later during the 45th running of the FVP Western World Championships presented by Sands Chevrolet. NASCAR star Kenny Wallace will join the Western Classic fun aboard the Papich Construction Super Late Model when the West Coast Shootout Late Model Series makes their first CSP appearance in 2012. Wallace drove Mark Stewarts IMCA Modified to a second place finish in the March Copper Classic narrowly missing victory lane as Jason Noll held him off for the win. The USAC National Midget races will be the first at Canyon Speedway Park marking the return of the National Midget Series on dirt. The Inaugural Western Classic will take place the second weekend of November and will showcase the fast action of USAC National Midgets and West Coast Late Models.The best of the Best will tackle Canyon Speedway’s 1/3-mile clay oval over the course of the two day event on November 9th and 10th.
