SANTA MARIA TO HOST SEPT. 29TH "JOHN JEWETT MEMORIAL BILLET CUP"

SANTA MARIA, CA – JULY 20, 2012... On Saturday, September 29th, the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series will travel to Santa Maria Speedway for the Southwest Contractors "John Jewett Memorial Billet Cup." Noted as one of the most anticipated dates on the schedule, Promoter Chris Kearns has put together nearly $25,000 in total payout for this one day event.
The "Billet Cup" will showcase a similar format to the extremely popular "Trophy Cup" as drivers receive passing points throughout the night. The main event will be fully inverted, making this a "must see race" as competitors battle for their share of a $10,000 point fund.
Not only featuring one of the largest single day purses in club history, the September 29th event will award $2,500 to the winner, $300 to last place, and $100 to non-transfers. In addition to an outstanding payout, the winner will also get a one-of-a-kind custom billet aluminum cup trophy.
To date, four different drivers have scored feature wins during the 2012 campaign. In the nine races held so far, point leader Bud Kaeding and Ryan Bernal are tied for the series lead with three victories. Kyle Larson swept the 2-day "Faria Memorial" at Tulare, and "The Kruser" Cory Kruseman won Santa Maria's "War at the Shore / Doug Fort Memorial." The Ford Motorsports Team have claimed six of the nine victories with Bernal, Larson, and Kruseman at the controls.
Santa Maria Speedway is located 1/4-mile north of the 101/166 interchange at 1900 Hutton Road in Nipomo, California. Adult tickets are $18, Senior, Military, and Student tickets (13-17) are $16, Kids tickets (6-12) are $6, and Children’s tickets (5 and under) are FREE.
