Wingless ace has many laps in midget racing competition and could be a factor in special event

PLACERVILLE, CA – The buzz among the open wheel racing community this week continues to surround the exciting all open wheel event headed for Placerville Speedway this weekend. This Saturday, June 23, the mighty midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA) will join forces with the winged warriors of the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Race Series for an action packed night of open wheel racing at its finest.
As of Tuesday afternoon, veteran wingless sprint car driver Matt Streeter of Sacramento has announced his entry into the coveted Midget Division at Placerville Saturday night. Streeter will join a number of veteran racers in this event, including four time USAC Western Midget Car Champion Robbie Flock of Murieta.
While Flock and the division regulars will surely put all their cards on the table Saturday night, Streeter could very well be the driver holding the royal flush at the end of the night. Streeter is best known for his seat time in the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Series here at home but he has had a great deal of seat time in the fierce wingless midgets that will be on hand at Placerville Saturday night.
After making his winged sprint car debut last Saturday at the big Calistoga half mile speedway, Streeter will make his first start in a wingless midget since May 12th. It was on that night that Streeter raced in the company of Flock at Kings Speedway in Hanford and was running second when Flock flipped over with just three laps remaining. Streeter went on to win the USAC Western States Midget event.
Prior to his prestigious win in Hanford, Streeter represented California in fine fashion at the 21st Annual Chili Bowl in Tulsa, OK back in January. In the opening event on Tuesday night of the five day event Streeter finished fourth in the A-feature. In the finals he placed 11th in second C-main of the evening.
This weekend Streeter will drive the Mark Orth owned #24 wingless sprint car during Jesse Heating and Air Night at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night before arriving at Placerville Speedway Saturday afternoon for the much anticipated twin division program that will bring the stars of the Civil War Sprint Car Series together with the talents of the BCRA Midgets. The event will mark the first time in track history that the two well known campaigns will share the quarter-mile track in the same night.
Flock is four time USAC Western Midget Champion and will be aboard the Mike Sala owned #19s midget for another duel with Streeter since the Hanford race.
In the BCRA Midget Series, look for Flock an Streeter to be joined by series point leader Justin Grant of Ione as well as former multi-champion Floyd Alvis of San Carlos. Additional drivers who have pre-registered for Saturday’s event include John Sarale of Stockton, Gary Dickenson of Santa Rosa, Oakdale’s Danny Parker, Ralph Cortez of Sacramento and Travis Berryhill of American Canyon to name a few.
The gates of the El Dorado County Fairground will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Qualifying is set to begin at 6:30. All seating is general admission at $15 for adults and $10 for juniors. Children tickets will be $4. With the caliber of this event, seating is expected to sell out quickly so an early arrival to the track is suggested to insure seating availability.
