We are all very excited to see the doors open up at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, IA this Friday and we are opening the season with the very exciting 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint Cars, special thanks to Driver Websites.com and Pizza Ranch of Rock Rapids!

This is going to be an exciting season and we can't wait to get it started. We have spent many hours on the track, re-shaping the corners, and getting this to an amazing 80 foot wide 3-4 wide racing surface and it is just going to breathe excitement. We added over a hundred loads of dirt on the track last fall and have been working it in throughout this spring. The track is ready and it is going to be a blast for both the fans and the drivers! With the 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars racing at over 120 MPH, and the way the track is for this year, we will be seeing an amazing race! The Hobby Stocks, B-Modifieds, Stock Cars and HRA Sprints will also be there, and I am sure all of these classes will put on a heck of a show this Friday!

Come see all the great local 410 Sprint Car drivers in the area compete for $2500 to win this Friday, the 18th of May! Tony Bruce Jr. of Liberal, Kansas will be making the trip up to Rocky as well as Terry McCarl, Austin McCarl, Gregg Bakker, and Rock Rapids very own Jody Rosenboom! Races start at 7:30 PM with the back gate opening up at 5PM.

General Admission tickets for our 410 Outlaw Winged Sprint Car Special will be $15.00 with the VIP for $25, and Season Ticket Holders will get to use the VIP this week. Kids are only $2.00, 8 and under are FREE. Pit passes are $25 unless you are a HRA member, then they are only $20.

To add to the excitment, the Eagle Motorsports/Don Ott Racing Engines "Raffle Car" will also be in the Midway at the track this Friday.

According to museum special events coordinator David Herrmann, “We are excited to be taking the state-of-the-art winged Eagle/Ott 410-cubic-inch sprint car to some different and historic venues."

Besides builders Eagle Motorsports and Don Ott Racing Engines, participating manufacturers include Goodyear, Dan Olson Racing Products, T&D Machine Products, Moose Blocks, Del West Engineering, Engler Machine & Tool, Barnes, TelTac, Longacre, HRP Wings, Weld Wheels, Schroeder, Winters Performance, FK Rod Ends, Pro Shocks, Wilwood Brakes, KSE, Fuel Safe, Simpson, Astro Titanium, AutoMeter, Brodix, Callies, Dyer's Top Rods, All-Pro, Shaver/Wesmar Gear Drives, MSD Ignition, Total Seal Piston Rings, Schoenfeld, GS Products, ButlerBuilt Seats, Waterman Racing Components, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, RJR Components, P-Ayr, Sweet Manufacturing, OTR Filters, C&R Racing and Mahle. Those seeking to purchase raffle tickets over the phone are encouraged to call the National Sprint Car Museum at 1-800-874-4488.

The Albert G's BBQ '82 Gambler House Car with updates will not be ready for the HRA opener. It wouldn't matter anyway, as Todd Todd the insulation god won't go to a local 410 race unless he has some ideus that Sammy will be there. Should be ready for the following weekend's action.

Don't let the ideus of 3 fendered support classes scare anyone off. Rocky is very racy, and the hobbies, b-mods and stock cars put on a helluva show every week. If you are a real race fan, you will enjoy!

I really don't have a problem with any of the 4 support classes.

My problem is that 4 support classes is at least 2 too many.

I live less than 20 miles from the track. I would like to be home by 11pm after walking through the pits for 10-20 mins, that means the 410 feature needs to be over by 10:30 at the absolute latest.

When you bring in the 410's and are trying to draw sprint car fans you need to cut down the number of fender classes.

There are lots of sprint car races that I will never attend because of the amount of fendered cars that race the same night/track. If I wasn't so close and didn't like this track so much I wouldn't attend for that very reason.

I'd just tell Todd Todd the Insulation God,that Sammy will be there that night, and will be showing off a new product for his sponsor. Then what you have to do is get an old recliner, and tie it to the tire rack on the 1970s vintage open trailer that hauls the Albert G's BBQ "1982 Gambler House car with updates". When Todd Todd the Insulation God shows up,you can tell him that the recliner is the latest in Big Game tree stands! Make sure to have some Sammy Hagar CD's or even some Sammy Davis Jr Cd's in case he asks where Sammy is !!

If that doesnt work, just tell Todd Todd the Insulation God that I will be coming up,and after the races we can go to a drive in like Sonic, and this time I'll let him holler at the girl "Hey are you a carhop"??

Hehehehe

Just an Ideus..

PS I wish that the Tour N Topless race hadnt got rained out....Be nice to have a USAC race there in conjunction with another speedway or 2 in the area.

Just another Ideus.........

We had a blast back in the day. Too bad "The Outlaw Greg Blaney" lost his ride. It won't be the same without the Dave Blaney Special Edition Honda. Never take the good times for granted!

Well said!

Last Saturday night, I was so fired up when I heard 40 + sprint cars in the pits. That excitement was pretty much shot by 1 a.m. when the sprint car feature had not yet started. I have also made the decision to look at the number of support classes being run before I decide to attend any sprint car shows.

Rocky is the best promoted track in the area in my mind. I can almost assure everyone that the show will be done quickly and professionally. You can't cut the support classes, they put on WAY to good of a show! I'd recommend the drive for anyone!
