USAC WEST COAST 360 POINT SEASON OPENS SATURDAY AT TULARE
by Lance Jennings

SANTA MARIA, CA – MARCH 12, 2012... This Saturday, March 17th, the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series will open their point season at Steve Faria's Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway. The traditional 360s will be joined by the famed World of Outlaw Sprints and the Front Gates will open at 5:00pm, with Racing at the lightning fast 1/3-mile to begin at 7:00pm.

Last Thursday night, Campbell's Bud Kaeding led the last two laps to win the non-point "Sin City Showdown" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Driving Junior Bowman's #29 Buster & Ziggy Enterprises / Kaeding Performance Bullet, the veteran driver has scored three out of the last five wins at the Tulare facility. The 3-time USAC Silver Crown Champion will be among the favorites to watch on Saturday.

Ryan Bernal of Hollister led thirteen laps before finishing second to Kaeding at Las Vegas. Now piloting Keith Ford's #73X King Racing Products / A&A Precision Machine Spike, last year's Rookie of the Year won at Tulare on October 8th in a dramatic 3-way battle at the finish. The young driver continues to impress and will be in the championship hunt.

Santa Maria's "Showtime" Danny Sheridan led the first three laps at Las Vegas in Warren Dorathy's #21 WD Racing / PACE Lighting KPC before scoring fifth. On September 17th, the USAC/CRA standout raced the Kittle Motorsports #18K Sherman to the Bud Stanfield Memorial victory at his hometown track. Sheridan has many laps at the Tulare clay oval and will be looking for a great start to his season.

Tipton's "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr. piloted his #17V Johnston Calf Pens / Buster & Ziggy Enterprises Bullet to a sixteenth place finish at Las Vegas. Two days later, Faria won his heat race and claimed third in Ventura's first round of the All Coast 360 Challenge. The local favorite will have his sights set on adding Saturday's Tulare feature to his resume.

Among the other top contenders expected to be in action are last year's champion Richard VanderWeerd and his brother Jace, 2009 Champion Justyne Hamblin, VRA Champion Greg Taylor, Ricky Kirkbride, Troy Rutherford, Rusty Carlile, Jonathan Logan, Josh Ford, Brody Roa, and many more.

Tulare's Thunderbowl Raceway is located at the Tulare County Fairgrounds at the corner of Bardsley and K Streets. Reserved Grandstand Tickets are $40 and Bleacher Tickets are $35. Advance tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling the track office at (559) 688-0909. For more event information, visit the track’s website at www.tularethunderbowl.com.
