You don’t have to be an intellectual person to figure out why A.S.C.S. wants the 305 sprint cars. The economy at this time is very fuzzy. Race promoters everywhere are having a hard time paying the purse. The purses for 305s are more economical than the 360 A.S.C.S. Race promoters and racers themselves want a cheaper sprint car. The 305 race saver rules are much cheaper than A.S.C.S 305 rules. A.S.C.S tech rules and the pump and whistle system leave some gray area, and room for illegal engines; Crank weight, Rods, Roller cams, and heads. Most racers feel they can be competitive with race saver rules, but engine builders don’t like race saver rules. With the current Renegade Sprint Car rules, engine builders can’t build the engine illegal. The Renegade Sprint tech is much tighter, and doesn’t leave much gray area for cheater engines. A.S.C.S and Renegade rules are not the same. Renegades require a sealed engine to race. If everyone had the money to be racing more expensive cars, then everyone would be for the A.S.C.S rules, but unfortunately, not every racer can afford an A.S.C.S car. That was the reason the Renegade Sprint series was started in the first place, so deep hearted racers who love the sport can go have fun weekend to weekend without breaking the bank. Unfortunately, if the Renegade Sprint Car Series is adopted by the A.S.C.S, many of the racers won’t be able to be competitive because of their budget. Many of the local racers simply do not have the money to have a competitive A.S.C.S car. Less cars means less fans, and eventually the class will become a failure. “Poor boys park em’ first, rich boys park em’ last”. And that’s the reason the economically disadvantaged racers don’t want A.S.C.S 305 rules!
