Abreu Amped for Australian Adventure
PETERSEN MEDIA: On
December 24th, most people will be eager for their Christmas
celebration, but St. Helena, CA native, Rico Abreu, will be boarding a
plane bound for Australia where the youngster will kick his 2012
campaign off with 7 shows.
Abreu burst onto the scene in California this year, and was a fan
favorite instantly, as he made his debut against the World of Outlaws at
the Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA in March with a 360ci
engine.
Though he was unable to find victory lane during his rookie campaign,
which saw him compete regularly with the Taco Bravo Sprints at the Ocean
Speedway in Watsonville, CA and with the Golden State King of the West
Series on occasion, Abreu still tallied numerous top three finishes and
gained respect amongst his competitors, as well as his Kaeding
Performance crew.
With experience up and down the state of California, Abreu will now
take another country by storm as his Abreu Vineyards/Kaeding
Performance/Maxim will head down under to take on some of the best in
Australia, as well as some of the best American’s around.
“I’m excited to get down there,” said Abreu. “It’s been rough the last
few weeks not racing, and I’m really excited to get down under and get
more seat time and hopefully pick up my first win in a sprint car.”
The St. Helena, CA 19-year-old is slated for a 5 race schedule.
