Scott, what ever happened to the 50 lappers? fuel problems? tire problems? Do you know? By the way, I used to hear you announce the bikes at IMS in San Bernardino when I was in high school. I finally figured it out where I heard you before. You said at the track earlier this year about working at IMS. P.S. GO LA KINGS!!!!

Amen, Rob. Don't like the day races at all. I'd rather have them at night even if it means braving the cold.

Personally I don't care for 50 lappers. 40 laps is more than enough for a sprint car race. I think that a sprint car race should be just that; a sprint.

Yes, the opener will be at night.

410sprinter3: Never did announce at the legendary IMS (my favorite speedway track including the ones I went to in England). I started out doing their photography and ended up doing their PR and photography until they sold the business at the conclusion of the 1988 season (first year they were at Glen Helen). IMS during the 1980s was definitely. "THE ONLY REASON FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHTS."

50 lappers were dropped for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, the finishes in 40 lappers are usually much more exciting than 50 lappers. Fifty lappers are also much harder on cars and that adds up in expenses to the owners. With yellows, 50 lappers have a bigger tendency to require a fuel stop. That can make us lean hard on the curfew. The new fair manager (took over in 2005) instituted a hard line on the curfews this year. Personally, I like 30 lappers best.

The Kings? Man, that is kind of an ugly situation right now. Hope they turn it around.

Scott, Thanks for the info on IMS. It certainly sounded like you. My apologizies for the mistake. The only rider I remember is Mike Faria. It's too bad we can't go back to 2 nights for Oval Nationals, then maybe OUR guys would take the big prize.( instead of those midwesterners!)
