Gregg Heads to KWS Finale Searching For 5th

Gregg Heads to KWS Finale Searching For 5th

PETERSEN MEDIA: As the King of the West Season comes to a close Saturday night, the hottest race in the championship standings is for the fifth place position, and Andy Gregg is hotly in the middle of the battle as the season closes at the Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway.

The name of the game Saturday night will get max points in every event. If Gregg can mimic the last King of the West Race, he will be in good position to lock the fifth position.

During the last KWS race, which was in Hanford, Gregg timed in with quick time, won his heat, won the dash, and finished fifth in the feature event.

With 7 points being awarded to the fast qualifier, with a one point drop down the top five, and a similar structure in heat races, followed by a four point drop from first to second in the feature, and a two-point drop for the rest of the field, each position will be important to Gregg as he is just 10 markers out of fifth.

“It should be a really exciting night Saturday, “ said Gregg. “TK has the title sealed up, but the battle for fifth between Willie (Croft), Jason (Statler), and myself should be pretty exciting to watch.”

Andy would like to thank 7industries.com, Ervin Sales Group, Wheel Vintiques, College Cyclery, The Hot Rod Shop, Autism Awareness, Guts Racing, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Jiffy-Tite, C&R Racing, Eagle Chassis, Meyer Motorsports, Hinchman Racing, and Bell for their support as they follow the 2011 King of the West Series.

ON TAP: Gregg and his Bret Ervin Racing team will be in action for the final event of the 2011 KWS season as they compete in the Cotton Classic Saturday night in Hanford, CA.
