Abreu Finishes 17th at Fall Nationals Finale

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway rookie
driver, Rico Abreu, worked his way from the 20nd starting position to
score a 17th place finish to close out the Fall Nationals.
With 57 cars on hand, Abreu timed in with the 26th fastest lap of the
night, putting him in the third row of his heat race, with the top four
finishers transferring directly into the feature.
Rico would be up to the challenger as he drove past Andy Forsberg on
the second lap of his heat to grab the fourth spot, where he would hold
off the 2011 Civil War Champion and transfer into the feature.
Rolling off in the 20nd spot, Abreu patiently felt out the speedway, as he felt out the patchy racing surface.
As Abreu scaled the top, and bottom he raced with the best in the business adapting himself to the slicked off racing surface.
The St. Helena native was able to carve his way through the field as
he was able to race past Andy Gregg, and Cody Lamar late in the feature
to pick up the 17th spot as the checkered flag waved.
“It was a 17th place finish but I can’t complain,” explained Rico. “I
haven’t really raced a whole lot on slick tracks, so it was a really
good night playing with the throttle and break to figure out the car
control, and I feel like I learned a few things tonight. I have to thank
my crew for all their hard work this weekend.”
Abreu would like to thank Abreu Vineyards, Kaeding Performance,
Stadlehofer Construction, Factory Kahne Shocks, Sprint Car Innovations,
Santomauro Racing Products, ButerBuilt, Swift Metal Finishing, and 7
Industries.
ON TAP: Rico now eyes the Ocean Speedway Friday night as he sits
third in points with just two races on the schedule, before taking on
