PETERSEN MEDIA: After an exciting opening night to the 2011 Fall Nationals, Justyn Cox’s final night got cut short after a lap seven tangle.

Cox continued to show speed as he did on Friday by stopping the clocks with the fastest lap during time trials against the 57 Sprint Cars checked into the pit area.

The lightning fast quarter mile didn’t allow for much passing in heat race action as Cox worked to a third place finish, transferring to the feature, and into the dash based on his qualifying time.

Dash action saw Cox roll off in the 11th spot, where he would then proceed to finish, putting his Rod Tiner Racing No.83c in the sixth row for the 40-lap feature event.

As the green flag waved, Cox settled into the tenth spot as he chased down Herman Klein and Kyle Hirst.

On the seventh lap, Hirst got sideways in front of Cox, collecting the youngster, sending him spinning off of the track causing front end damage.

The damage ended Cox’s night, and he was credited with a 21st place finish, putting the only real dark spot on Cox’s weekend.

“We started off the night really well,” said Cox. “It’s pretty cool to be quick time with the caliber of cars in the pits, and I can’t thank Rod enough. Last night we half spun and got saved, and tonight we were the ones helping someone else out, but it happens, and hopefully I can get back in the 83 car again really soon”

Justyn would like to thank STL, College Cyclery, Oakley, and 7 Industries for their continued support in 2011.
