USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series
EXTRA MONEY UP FOR GRABS AT SANTA MARIA’S STANFIELD MEMORIAL

SANTA MARIA, CA – SEPTEMBER 9, 2011... When the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series return to Santa Maria Speedway on Saturday, September 17th, there will be extra prize money up for grabs. Series and Track Promoter Chris Kearns has announced that this year’s “Bud Stanfield Memorial” will feature a purse of $2000-to-win, $1000-for-2nd, $800-for-3rd, and $250-to-start the main event.
The 2011 “Bud Stanfield Memorial” is sponsored by the family of John Jewett. Jewett, a veteran of the Bandit, Santa Maria, Ventura, and SCRA Sprint Car wars, scored his only feature win at the Santa Maria facility. The popular driver passed way last month and will be missed by the racing community.
The September 17th event at Santa Maria will also showcase the MMI Hobby Stocks, Toste Construction Mini-Stocks, and the popular NMRA TQ Midgets. The Front Gates will open at 4:00pm, Time Trials will start at 5:00pm, with Racing at "The West Coast's Best Short Track" to begin at 6:00pm.
The Santa Maria race will play a key role in the hunt for the championship. Visalia’s Richard VanderWeerd currently holds a fifty-three point advantage over Ryan Bernal of Hollister. Bernal is the hottest driver on the circuit and has won the last three main events. Richard’s twin brother Jace is third in the point standings and has a shot at the title. “Hollywood” Danny Faria Jr. of Tipton and San Martin’s Wes Gutierrez round out the top five in points. Before the Santa Maria race, the USAC West Coast 360s have unfinished business at Hanford’s “Jim Turner Memorial” this Saturday night.
