Lots of different rules out there for sprint cars in the area. You have our super sprints and champ sprints, you have ASCS rules, you have the new Kansas area 305 rules and the Texas area 305 rules, what do you think should happen or do you?

What I would like to see is drop the 2 barrel and replace with 305 and switch the super sprint to ASCS.

I race at 81 Speedway and with NCRA. Would like to see OKC allow ASCS and NCRA (open cast iron head) motors as well as the spec head motors you already have (but allow dome pistons).

Keep the 16 ft wing. The 25 ft wing lets you run wide open nearly all the time.

I don't care which RR tire, just sell them cheaper. Keep the name Super Sprints. It sounds good.

I'm building my last iron head motor, this one with dome pistons. The next one will have ASCS heads.

Don't know what to think of the 305 deal. Do we really need another sprint car class?

Hey twofast4u, which topic were you talking about? I like chiming in with my two cents, especially on topics that I feel strongly about. If you and others haven't noticed, I am kinda opinionated.

Allan, welcome to this forum. There are those sprint drivers here that feel they need to rid of our championship sprint cars that race here, Lawton and Creek County and run the 305's. Personally, I like this format of two type of sprints that we have (super sprints and champ sprints) but then again I am not a car owner. Guess the cost of the champ sprints are getting too high and the 305's are more practical cost wise. I take it your not much of a 305 fan up there in Kansas? That is a shock as I thought most of the drivers up there were.

The sprint car rules at SFS are kind of a sore spot with me. I have received numerous ideas from the sprint car owners and drivers, but it is extremely hard, if not impossible, to get any changes implemented.

Some of the ideas that have been bandered around are as follows:

1. Let the Super Sprints go to ASCS rules, or at least, let them go to the big wings and the big right rear tire.

2. Change the Champ Sprint motor rules back like they were during the 100-inch days. A lot of people would like to see the Champs run wingless, too.

3. The 305's they run in Texas, use a sealed motor with a big wing and a 104" Hoosier right rear tire. They use a spec head with stock springs and valves. Their motors will only turn about 6500 RPM. The good thing about those motors is they only cost about $3500 to build, instead of $12,000 to $15,000 to run at SFS.

4. One of my pet peeves is the left rear tire rule, it should be a left rear wheel rule, like ASCS. With the rule like it is, you can leave the pits, perfectly legal, and be disqualified when you go across the scales.

5. Last, but not the least of my concerns, deals with the fuel. Watch the sprint cars when they go across the scales and see how many of them have the gas cap off the fuel cell. You can stand behind them with the motor running and tell they are not burning straight methanol.

6. I wish that the ORA had more input into the changing of the rules at SFS, but unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
