We have finally reached the sixteen race mark of the 2010 UMSS season. That is the magic number of shows used to determine the top three drivers for the GRP Sweet Sixteen Bonus money to be paid out at the UMSS banquet in January 2011. Of the top drivers in the current UMSS point standings, only Cody Hahn has run all 16 shows. Brad Barickman and Jerry Richert Jr. are just one show short. That should change this coming weekend at the Jerry Richert Memorial, assuming poor weather does not come into play. A driver's top 16 point shows will be used to determine the bonus standings. For drivers who run more than 16 races, they will be able to throw out their worst shows and use only their top 16 best shows for the season. The bonus money breakdown is $1,500 for first, $1,000 for second, and $500 for third. Of the current top three drivers in the UMSS point standings, Cody Hahn potentially could throw out his three worst races while Brad Barickman and Jerry Richert Jr. would be able to throw out their two worst point shows. That is assuming all three remaining races on the schedule are completed.

Top Three in the GRP Motorsports Sweet Sixteen Bonus as of September 5, 2010 (Race #16):

1. Cody Hahn #23 = 3,647 points (16 races)

2. Brad Barickman = 3,489 points (15 races)

3. Jerry Richert, Jr. = 3,371 points (15 races)

Stay tuned, as the standings very likely could change based on the point scores attained by each driver in the remaining three races. A breakdown by race will be posted after the Richert Memorial show at Cedar Lake Speedway on September 11.
