If you weren't at American Valley Speedway Saturday night or left before the main you missed one hell of a race. I went with the same expectations probably everyone does when going to that place. You know - enjoy the scenery, the company of racing friends, and maybe one decent race. The place is a narrow paperclip and tough to pass on. This main event, however, was EPIC! The only local in the field Jim Richardson took the lead from the outside of the front row and you pretty much had to figure that if he kept his nose clean and a yellow or two he would get the win. Justin Sanders stalked him with a glowing red hot rear brake rotor. The yellows never came, however, and the battle between Steven Allard and Steven Tiner was fierce. Allard started 13th and Tiner started 12th after a Wimmer-esque move by Andy Gregg on the last turn of the last lap of their heat race put him and Tiner in the B (Tiner was in the transfer position). Anyways........Sanders finally got past Richardson for the lead and in the closing laps Tiner finally got around Allard before setting his sites on Richardson. With what seemed like 3 to go Tiner closed on Sanders who had stretched his lead over Richardson and passed him. Allard was on the move as well as he wound up second. By FAR the best race I have ever seen there and probably one of the best ever that I can remember in my book. It was great to see Tiner get the win and I think every Tiner was there except Rod to witness it including Randy "Boo" Tiner. The bar has been set very high for future races at this place. It was almost Trophy Cup like - as in like last year's TC. AWESOME! (You just never know........)

Yep,
Thats just how it went,
Except I feel it is important to mention that Steven passed Sanders in 1 and 2.... on the OUTSIDE!!
Thats not easy to do at American Valley,
And you description of the Allard/Tiner battle was spot on..Epic racing
That is turning into a "Must Go" Event!!
Glad I was there.
Steve
