Stillwater, MN
By: Greg Parent (6-2-10)
With the 18th Annual Earl & Ethel Kouba Memorial slated to take place on Saturday June 5 at the North Central Speedway near Brainerd, Minnesota, the UMSS and Kouba family are pleased to announce that some additional sponsorship money has been secured for this popular event. In addition to the previously announced feature race sponsorship help from the Kouba family, GRP Motorsports, Proto Fab, and Bev-lor Utilities, Precision Tool has added an additional $500 to the purse which will be distributed in the fourth through tenth finishing positions. With Gillund Enterprises/JB Distributing already announced $500 sponsorship help for the two Ethel Kouba Challenge Races, the Ultimate Sprint Heat Race winners will receive $55 each from GRP Motorsports based on three heats.
Two very special bonus awards will be in place at the 18th Annual Kouba Memorial. With a $100 contribution from Rik & Sandy Sandberg, the Raleigh Sandberg Memorial Hard Charger Award will be presented to the driver who advances the most positions from his or her starting spot in the feature race. Another $100 contribution from Ronnie & Cindy Wuiff for the Raleigh Sandberg Memorial Hard Luck Award will be awarded to a driver who experiences some misfortune during the course of the evening.
In addition to a very strong base payout from North Central Speedway, the added sponsorship help indicated above brings the total A Feature payout for the 20 starters to $8,500. With the additional bonus money in effect for the Ultimate Sprint Heats, Ethel Kouba Challenge Races, and the two special Raleigh Sandberg Memorial Awards, this pushes the total payout for the event in excess of $9,300. If there are any cars that do not make the feature race, all nonqualifiers will receive $125.
The 18th Annual Kouba Memorial feature race planned payout is as follows.
1. $1,500
2. $1,000
3. $700
4. $550
5. $500
6. $450
7. $425
8. $350
9. $325
10. $300
11-20 $240
Should a driver complete a clean sweep of all racing action (heat, challenge race, and feature), they could take home $1,655. If by chance they are also the Hard Charger, another $100 would be added in to their winnings. The 18th Annual Kouba Memorial provides a solid payout for the drivers with a strong field of 360 sprint cars expected to participate. Join us at North Central Speedway on Saturday evening June 5 for exciting UMSS sprint car racing action along with a full program in North Central's other divisions. A couple of sprint car drivers, Andy Jones and Tim Johnson, are planning on racing in more than one division on Satruday night June 5.
