CARLSON LEADS CALIFORNIA FOCUS DIRT COMPETITORS BACK TO VENTURA; CHOWCHILLA CANCELLED

INDIANAPOLIS – Teenagers Nick Carlson and Nic Faas will resume action and the battle for the point lead in the USAC California Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car Series this Saturday at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway following an unexpected week off.

Carlson, Faas and the rest of competitors were scheduled to compete last Saturday at Chowchilla (Calif.) Speedway before inclement weather during the week forced track repairs. The event was subsequently cancelled after track officials announced the repairs could not be completed by race time.

Instead, Carlson and Faas, separated by four points after two races, will continue their charge to dethrone 2006 champion Bobby Michnowicz as competitors return to the 1/5-mile Ventura dirt. Michnowicz is 12 points out of the point lead, one which Carlson took after his season-opening victory at Ventura.

Faas, in turn, won the most recent race March 24 at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway.
