Why didn't you throw the yellow when the 23 spun out just off the race track? You could have hurt someone. Bad call!

Why don't you come to the races, identify yourself and express your concerns instead of blabbing on the keyboard racetrack? If you would have been at the drivers meeting you would have an answwer as to why. Nothing, and I mean nothing will ever get fixed here on this board.Your voice needs to be heard at the track, at that meeting or you are wasting your time and mine.

Way to go Joe. You are 100% correct on hiding and bitching.

I'm sorry that you took my question the wrong way. I'm not bitching about it. I just thought someone could have gotten hurt. I'm just a fan in the stands enjoying the races. I have no reason to be in the pit meetings. I'm just asking for an explaination to the ruling.

Many factors in play on that split second decision including:

  • It was the second unassisted spin for the 23 in that race and he would not be given the opportunity to restart the race
  • He was safely and completely inside of the track and off the racing surface by a couple car widths, in an area not likely to have high speed uncontrolled traffic
  • He was still fully strapped in and protected in his racecar same as he would be racing on the track
  • Only a couple laps to go in the event, minimizing the risk of incident

Call could have gone either way, but we chose to finish out the race. Please do keep the feedback coming - the series is new, and we've brought some new ideas to try and help rebuild sprint car racing in our area, and feedback from fans and racers is how we'll continue to generate new ideas and improvements.

Thanks for coming out and supporting the UMSS. Hope you had a good time and come out and see us again - maybe even Saturday at Cedar Lake for final 2009 race which will decide our first ever point championship.

Thank you. That's all I was asking for. I was just concerned for everyones safety and that's why my call would have gone the other way.

I have and will continue to support the UMSS. I look forward to you building up sprint car racing in this area again.

Some people just have to sit back and relax before they begin to type and not get so uptight.

Since it is brought up on here I'd just like to say that this matter has been resolved with the officials both face to face and on the telephone.

Thanks to anyone concerned with driver safety.

and for the messege board know it alls if you watched the 410 race and watched McCarl almost spin and come blazing through the infield at 80mph you'd see my point. It is just a matter of where you consider safe.

I believe one of this board's purposes is to provide an outlet for different people's opinions so lets keep it that way.

That being said I'd like to change this threads topic to how great the track prep and conditions were for Saturday night. It couldn't have been better racing for both features and I had a blast driving it.

It was truly an Honor to compete in the memorial I have been watching for several years now and I thank the whole Richert family for putting it on.

My question to you is if you were at the meeting like you said you would have know the 360 spin would be allowed. I did RELAX before I typed!!! I simply stated the facts. If you have a bitch, this is not the place to resolve it. You also know by now that nothing aggravates me more than keyboard racers hiding behind these SECRET names! The UMSS has had a fantastic first year. It will be better next year and every year to follow. The rules will evolve with the series. As the car count grow so will the problems but as long as I am involved I will press to all my experience and guidance with which to keep the UMSS headed on the right track. I have posted my e-mail address here a 100 times. Anybody is welcome to put in there opinions to me at anytime and I will see that we, the UMSS looks at everything. When the trash talking starts all that does is piss me off.

Joe - I never said I was at the drivers meeting. I said I'm a fan in the stands enjoying the races. I never bitched. I simply asked a question.

As far as hiding behind my name....get over it.

I believe this a racing board, therefore questions pertaining to racing, should be allowed on here whether you Joe Kouba like it or not, this not your personal board so quit acting like it.

HUH, Looks like this guy stated that he was in the stands! "I'm just a fan in the stands enjoying the races". Looks to me like you better do some proof reading before you jump on someone!!!

Cut & pasted from:

www.umsprints.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=12&page=3

360 Spin Rule
A 360 spin is just that, a spin. The yellow will come out as a spinning car is unsafe. The car will be sent to the tail for causingn the yellow, or being part of an incident that causes a yellow. The only time the yellow won't be thrown for a 360 spin is if the car is out of harms' way and is running near the back of the field by the officials' discretion.
