Tyler Walker Has Great Run with The Outlaws at Cottage Grove

By Gary Costa

Cottage Grove, OR (September 8, 2009) – Tyler Walker and the SC Motorsports team have proved once again that they can run with anyone at anytime. The team made the tow to Cottage Grove Speedway to do battle with the traveling World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. After the WoO event at Gray's Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington would fall victim to rain, to say that the team was itching for war would be a huge understatement.

Walker would get after it in the Lee Lindgren wrenched SC Motorsports, NMI Industrial Contractors No. 24 in qualifying, turning in a solid 10.151 lap. The lap would be quick enough for seventh out of the stout 31 car field.

Walker proceeded to transfer out of his 10 lap heat race in dramatic fashion by finishing second, and would outrun drivers such as Danny Lasoski, Jason Sides, Robbie Farr, and Brian Ellenberger. By transferring though his heat race, Walker would also toss himself into the 8 lap Crane Cams Dash where he finished ninth.

After making the changes to the car for the feature, Walker would start from the fifth row. When the green flag dropped on the 40 lap affair, it was immediately evident that Lee Lindgren and the team had made the right changes to the car, as Walker was on kill in the No. 24. Without hesitation, Walker began blasting by cars, and worked himself into a battle for the third position. Walker did a masterful driving job and brought the car home in the fourth spot, in the process showing all in attendance why he and team owners, Scott and Kathy Chastain, are the '09 King of California Champions.

"We had to redeem ourselves after Skagit. We were blazing fast there, but obviously our finishes didn't quite show it," Walker said. "The guys had the car real good tonight. I'm just lucky enough to be able to get in, and be able to drive such a great car; I owe it all to my team. Now we're going into the Gold Cup, and I like our chances."

Look for Tyler Walker and the SC Motorsports team going for the win at the 56th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA.
