what happened to Hockett running ASCS National Tour?

He was at Florida and had to use provisionals each night. is that all they get is 3 provisionals? if so I bet that has somthin to do with it........only so many points you can fall behind to Wright, Wayne Johnson, and Jason Johnson. So whats he gonna do the rest of the season?

Ironically ASCS has lost several more "commited" drivers than WoO. About 6X as many if I recall. That can't be good.

Jesse announced over the winter that he was going to run the entire USAC National Sprint season this year.  So I don't think he had plans to run the ASCoT except to maybe fill in some holes in the schedule.

Jake is correct, Hockett used provisionals he earned from last year:

The Rocket and VKCC Motorsports are gearing up to make a run at the USAC National Sprint car series title in 2007, competing on both dirt and pavement. The team has been busy putting all the finishing touches on what will be the biggest year to date for the 23 year old racer from Warsaw, MO. Jesse and the # 75 team have put an awesome package together with DRC Chassis on dirt and Beast on the Pavement utilizing both Wesmar and Kriner Engines. The proven combination will head to Florida to defend their Sprint Bandit TNT non wing title, as well as competing for the $50,000 to win Triple Challenge at East Bay, racing with the ASCS 360, 410 wings and 410 non wing." My car owners Tom and Asta Vankeirsbilck have really made a big commitment this year to help further my career and to open some doors for my future. I really want to thank them for the opportunity and I know I will make them proud while racing for a USAC championship in 2007, I can't wait to stand on the gas when the green flag falls in Florida." Jesse stated. The team will be based out of Indianapolis and is currently seeking major sponsorship. VKCC Motorsports and Jesse Hockett would like to thank their current associate and product sponsors; Rod End Supply, Massey Truck & Tank Repair, The Kasey Kahne Foundation, Hoosier Tires, Weld Wheels, DRC Chassis, DMI, HRP, Simpson, Arizona Race Mart, Fischer Body Shop, Pro Powder Coat, and Korte Transportation. Jesse will also compete in the USAC Silver crown series on dirt driving his own # 77 Beast with RMS power, starting the season in February at Manzinita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ. He is currently seeking a ride in new generation pavement Silver crown car. The Rocket started the 2007 season off in style defending his Roger McCluskey Classic win in Tucson, AZ driving the Massey #2AZ. He will continue driving the Massey car out west when time permits. Jesse will once again compete in the Chili Bowl driving for Blackwell Motorsports in the #27c car. Hmmm. I wonder if Hockett has aspirations of going to IRL or NASCAR. He's still fairly young.

The first time I saw him at Manzy in a hot lap session in a good AZ car I asked around till I found out who in the hell that was out there. Some got it and some have a little more than others, that boys got it! You should have seen him throwing dirt way up on the wall in 3 and 4 at the CLASSIC in a silver crown car, way up in no man's land just hanging it out big time, or hauling a non-wing sprinter DEEP into the corners on that big half mile like he's done it all his life. big ones.....He'll do more than alright when he settles in a little. Racing with the west coast boys will be a tremendous help when he runs with USAC, no slouches over here. I think he just wants to run with the best and run em like your supposed to, with out a wing!

I been following that kid since he sat his butt in a sprint car. He's a throwback to the old days. He'll win or lose by the high side. He's extremely talented, very personable, and does have aspirations to race in cup some day. We are going to miss him locally this year, but hey go run with the big boys.

Jesse's pretty ok with a wing, but take off the lid and he's bad fast!

I agree he does do well without the garage door strapped to the top, but if you want to see him run the high side with a lid, go to High Sierra web site and check out their video clip section. View the ASCS heat action video. This was shot at Wheatland, the little 7.5 million dollar 3/8 mile that has the Lucas Oil name in front of it. Anyway he starts midpack or so and dusts Gary Wright off on the last lap to take the win. All thats irrelevent, its just a hoot to watch Jesse run the cushion. The kid is good. Unfortunately for many of his local fans he won't be in our neighborhood much this year. Can't wait to see him at Osky this year.

It's actually High Vista Video - but you're close.

I think I may have removed that clip a little while ago, but may bring it back by popular demand.

Sorry about my mistake in regards to the name. But hey you accept my MC anyway. Great video site, and easy to do business with. You got into my back pocket last year and I am sure you will do so this year. Nothing like popping in a High Vista video on a snowy day and watching a little sprint car racing.

Trust me the place will be packed. It will be SRO, so get there early....... Danny used to sing the national anthem on occasion and was a hell of a guy and starting to get really good as a crew chief.
