Thanks much, Lance. Was J.J. in the old Smiley 2A? What happened? Were those two rugged looking, "unsponsored" Kunz karz towed out, or are they stored out here somewhere?

Hmm. One question answered below.

A WORD TO THE WISE: NICE JOB!! (JOSH TAKES LAS VEGAS DIRT CLASSIC FINALE)

Regional-CRA Sprints
03/09/07
By Robert Mayson
Las Vegas, NV – March 9, 2007 – Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif., was the class of the field Friday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway powering his Keith Kunz Motorsports / Advanced Racing No. 67 Bullet from the tenth starting spot to score a 30-lap USAC/CRA sprint car win.
“We learned a lot from last night, and we kind of did the opposite of what we did last night, and it worked out for us,” Wise said after his “Las Vegas Dirt Classic” victory.
Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, Calif., took the lead at the start from the outside of the front row and led comfortably until he drifted wide entering turn-one eight laps from the finish while trying to lap a slower car. Sheridan eventually finished third in his Kittle Plumbing No. 18 Stinger.
Torrance, California’s Rickie Gaunt gave chase in the closing laps, but ultimately had to settle for a runner-up finish in the Nadine Keller / David Zoriki No. 94 Chalk.
Wise’s teammate, Dustin Morgan of Tulsa, Okla., finished fourth ahead of Mike Spencer. Series point leader Tony Jones, who won Thursday’s main event, finished 14th to maintain a 19-point advantage over Spencer.
Nextel Cup Regular J.J. Yeley, Phoenix, Ariz., started 27th and was on the move early passing eleven cars on the opening lap. Unfortunately, Yeley tangled with Blake Miller on lap-15 and Matt Rossi on lap-29, relegating him to an eventual 26th-place finish.
Robert Ballou of Rocklin, Calif., turned the fastest lap in time trials in his MPGH Promotions No. 81 Maxim.

RAJ:

I am sure the reason why JJ Yeley finished so far back in the semi is because JJ, I believe raced the Bush series last night. I guarantee he did not have that much seat time for that race. I hope that answered your question.

JJ did not race the Busch Cars this night as this was a Friday night show, the Busch cars ran on Saturday.

However, JJ qualified his Cup car and probably his Busch car that day. He did not qualify his Sprint Car Friday Night, nor did he run his heat race. Although Yeley war really fast on Thursday night, he was not that fast on Friday night, but the track was HORRIBLE on Friday especially by the semi and the mainevent and THERE WAS LITTLE Passing unless a car got out of the groove.

They took 8 cars from the semi on Friday out the semi into the main (I guess hoping that JJ would make the main ?) however JJ and Tony Jones and Scotty Weir all missed the top 8 in the semi. I guess that tells how tough the semi was, or more likely how terrible the track was. (JJ only ran the semi and main on Friday and looked much better on Thursday, Kenny Schrader was one of about 70 laps and he ran both Thursday and Friday, was ran aboout 6th both night in the main, and was fast time on Friday).

However, besides taking 8 from the semi main, the CRA sanction took 2 provisionals, and the track took a provisional too LOL. This is almost as bad as a NASCAR race.

In the main, DANNY SHERIDAN had them ALL COVERED. PERIOD..........

For whatever reason, Rodney Argo a lapped car, would not let Sheridan go by on the inside for a good lap, and when Danny went to go by down the outside on the front stretch, Argo clearly bumped Sheridan in marbles (almost looked on purpose) in turn 1, Sheridan almost hit wall on a VERY LOOSE one groove track and was lucky to recover to 3rd. Even the winner Josh Wise commented he was lucky to be given this gift win. However, he was happy to take it (and wasn't willing to give it back either).

Raj-these so called rugged Kunz cars you call, are probably some of best non wing cars wrenched by the very best mechanics and minds in the business. In the past years, Chip Gannassi and/or Dodge has paid big bucks for their surfaces. They may not have the best paint jobs, but I am betting they have the very best equipment available (or not even available) in them.

Thursday night the racing was incredible, with JJ (no qualifying time) coming from the back in the semi and main getting a top 5. The semi main was one of the best races I have ever seen with the dicing of so many drivers.

However, Friday was one of the worst shows I have ever seen. But a bad day at the races is always better than a day at work. The two shows in Vegas plus the time in town was a blast. Plus throw in a show at Ventura last night and a race last week at Perris and I feel like I had a full week of different track conditions. Not every show is gonna be a winner, but I sure saw a lot race cars and races the last three nights!!!!!!!)
