Tyler Walker Finishes 2nd in July 4th GSC Barnburner

By Gary Costa

Chico, CA (July 4, 2009) – After having a rough couple of weeks, things went back to normal for the SC Motorsports camp at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The Scott Chastain owned NMI Industrial Contractors No. 24, Tyler Walker piloted JEI Sprint Car turned in a performance that it's used to; running up front.

Walker would start his night out by pounding Alan Padjen's surface with a 12.081 qualifying effort. In his heat race he went onto finish second, which would start him seventh in the all important dash, where he quickly worked his way up to third in only 6 laps of racing.

Walker slid the powerful mount into his third starting spot for the 30 lap feature event. When the green flag was unfurled, Walker chased Bud Kaeding and Jonathan Allard through turns 1 & 2. Walker eventually got around Allard and set his sights on race leader Kaeding. Walker and Kaeding would thrill the Chico fans as both were driving each other clean and hard providing their own fireworks out on the racetrack. Kaeding would retain the top-spot and charge to victory in the entertaining 30 lapper, with Walker crossing the line in second.

"That was a great race! I had a lot of fun out there, and I hope the fans enjoyed it," Walker said. "I want to congratulate Bud and his team; they did a great job all weekend for him. I also want to thank my guys. We have had a rough couple of weeks, but these guys just never gave up."

Santa Maria Speedway will be up next for Tyler Walker and the team. The race will be the inaugural Doug Fort Memorial and will also be Round No. 18 for the GSC.
